Publisher's summary

I'm Arwyn Cassandra Corey, the sea wicche, or the wicche who lives by the sea. It requires a lot more work than I'd anticipated to remodel an abandoned cannery and turn it into an art gallery & tea bar. It's coming along, though, especially with the help of a new werewolf who's joined the construction crew. He does beautiful work. His sexy, growly, bearded presence is very hard to ignore, but I'm trying. I'm not sure how such a laid-back guy got the local Alpha and his pack threatening to hunt him down and tear him apart, but we all have our secrets. And because I don't want to know his—or yours for that matter—I wear these gloves. Clairvoyance makes the simplest things the absolute worst. Trust me. Or don't. Totally up to you.

Did I mention my mother and grandmother are pressuring me to assume my rightful place on the Corey Council? That's a kind of governing triad for our ancient magical family, one that has more than its fair share of black magic practitioners. And yes, before you ask, people have killed to be on the council—one psychotic sorceress aunt comes to mind—but I have no interest in the power or politics that come with the position. I'd rather stick to my art and, in the words of my favorite sea wicche, help poor unfortunate souls. (Good luck trying to get that song out of your head now.)

Contains mature themes.

What A Awesome Story

I am going to look out for the next book because now I am super curious. I purchase it on a two for one sale hoping it was good and I wasn't disappointed. It had parts where It made me sad for Chris and Anna. Then times I can't help but lol (actually out loud). Great book gotta see what else this author have and hope its free. 😊😂

Now I’m on a book hangover

Absolutely love this story and this author. Both were new to me, but I definitely am going to download her other stuff ASAP. Cannot wait for another chapter to this story in particular. I really loved the characters and how well they are built. Pick this one up on a whim, as this one was free, and I was looking for something to listen to while I drive for work. I am super sad that I just finished it, and as a friend told me, the book hangover is real and that’s how you know it was a really good story

Another catching story

I’ve found myself smiling like a lunatic on various occasions while listening to the story. The only thing I regret is that scenery descriptions are more detailed than characters’. I like to see the story like a movie in my mind while it is narrated to me. The sceneries were there without effort but the faces were more difficult to see clearly, and this detracted from the experience. Still, the story is intriguing, so I’ll take what is there and do the extra effort.

Loved it

Well developed characters and well written plot. Bought and read the book, then bought the Audible. Just finished the Audible version and am so happy I bought it. Samantha Desz added even more. Thank you for such a satisfying story. I look forward to the next book!

Great narration; good series start.

Pleasantly and unexpectedly, this novel includes characters from the Sam Quinn series, which I love (the inclusion of the characters and the series itself). One doesn’t have to have read the Sam Quinn books (five so far) but I highly recommend them —for themselves as well for the backstory they provide. The heroine and hero are great characters and I’m thrilled with their connection to Sam.
I do however have two disgruntlements with this book, hence the 4 stars, not 5.
No. 1: It feels unfinished. Too many plot points were left dangling. A few more should have been completed. Even though I fully expect more books to follow, this ended with a unsatisfying feeling.
No. 2: Although I figured out pretty quickly who the sorcerer is, this is not a brag on my analytical skills, at all. I think it was too easy to figure out.
Samantha Desz has done another stellar job with the narration. Her voices, intonation, and cadence are all excellent.
Note: as with most audiobooks, I listened at 1.5 speed.

Loved the characters in this book can’t wait for the next in this series. I liked that the Sam Quinn characters were woven into this story and connected to past books of the Sam Quinn series with details from Arwyn’s side/point of view. Can’t wait to read about Arwyn & Declan’s adventure to the Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore & Bar to learn more about Demons and how next to deal with the family sorcerer. 🙌🤓
