Publisher's summary

“I’m not sure that happiness is in the cards for me.”

Alpha Jett King has been divorced for years after his one-night-stand-turned-shotgun-wedding went down the tubes. As Devon's most sought-after builder, he’s finally got the chance to reconnect with his adult son Brayden and show him the ropes of the family business.

"I like to follow my gut - it’s never steered me wrong."

Korbin Bishop is eager to prove himself...and taking on the task of handling any clinic emergencies while the animal hospital is shut down over Christmas seems like a brilliant way to show off his can-do attitude. Korbin’s also eager to show off in front of the hot builder...before he realizes that Jett is his good friend’s father.

Welcome to Sunnydale Vets, where love is the best medicine, and all it takes to fix your problems is the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get to work. This heartwarming story features mentions of male pregnancy, some holiday tinsel, an age-gap attraction, and the perfect Christmas gift - the love in their hearts. This audiobook and every other audiobook in the Sunnydale Vets series can be listened to in any order.

Sweet Story

This is a nice sweet story. Only a little bit of angst, but you’re not really left worried that they won’t make it through in the end.

Love the story!

I’ll get the negative out of the way...I’m not fond of the character’s voice.
However the storyline was absolutely adorable and romantic!!! The two made such a cute couple by the end! I love the animals at home and the vets.

This is the first book in the series I have read.

But after reading this I want to go back and read the rest.

What happens when the guy you are falling for happens to be your best friends dad? Jett is so happy to have his estranged son back in his life learning his craft with him when he picks up a job expanding the local vets office over Christmas break. Korbin is so lucky to be the vet on call over the holidays while the construction is taking place when he falls for the silver haired builder.

Korbin is so lucky to have his childhood friend back in town to discuss this new man he has fallen for. However when when Korbin and Jett get caught kissing on the job they are all in for a big surprise.

fun Story!

Barking Up The Right Tree is the seventh book in the Sunnydale Vets series by Austin Bates. It is cute, sweet, funny and fun.... with just a slight taste of drama ... I mean Jett IS Kornin's best friend's father, afterall. I love Jett and Korbin and the age gap romance.

Narration by Guillaume Dubois is fantastic. The personalities shine through and the story is very entertaining.

Jet and Korbin

I really loved this May/December romance. The burn is super slow, and the angst is low. Jett is a super guy and his desire to fix up his relationship with his son makes him even better. Korbin wants to prove himself at work, being the youngest vet on staff has him eager to impress. I liked that while initially, these guys felt the other out of reach due to age, once they connected it wasn't an issue. Jett's son Brayden was a great side character, giving Jett and Korbin both added depth. My only wish was that Brayden would've opened up to his dad about what was bothering him as he did with Korbin. My favorite part was seeing all the guys from previous books together with their families at the end.

The narrator speaks clearly with decent cadence. There are only a couple of characters' voices I personally didn't care for but still enjoyed the audiobook as a whole.

Loved it

This is by far my favorite series from Austin. They make me smile even when I'm tired. To see the comedy of errors that leads to a happy ending....lovely.

Another sweet love in Devon

I loved this book. This is a sweet story about Jett, an alpha who's divorced with a grown son, Brayden. And Korbin an omega and Brayden's best friend. After some awkwardness Brayden accepts his dad and Korbin being together, which is good because there's a baby on the way.
Narrator Guillaume Dubois does a fabulous job. I've really enjoyed listening to his narrations throughout this series.

as great as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

Good Story

I really liked this book. It is a sweet quick read. I was sorry to see the story end. I definitely need to go back and read earlier books because I felt a little lost with the side characters. There were some odd pauses in the audio but no words were missing.
