Publisher's summary

I can’t love him. It’s not allowed.

Twenty years ago, I made a promise. If anything ever happened to Marc - my best friend - I'd step up and take care of his wife and baby son.

I never thought I'd have to honor it. Never even dreamed that something would happen to him. He was an unyielding presence in my life. Always solid. Always there.

And now he's dead. Murdered in cold blood.

His wife, Lindy, is holding in there.

But his son, Mason, isn't coping very well at all. It's gotten so bad that he may have to postpone his final semester of university. All I want to do is look out for him, and having me around seems to help.

But I have a secret. It’s more than grief. Mason wants me - the way an omega wants their alpha.

And heaven help me, but I want him, too.

I'm so sorry, Marc. I love your son. And now I don't know what to do.

Crushing On My Father's Best Friend is a dual point of view, contemporary mpreg audio book featuring a guaranteed happy ending and the healing that comes through the power of love. The first in its series, this title can be listened to as a standalone book.

Ok story but…

Narrator was not the best, it felt more like someone reading out loud than actually narrating with different voices, intonations etc. I was hoping they would use a different narrator for next books.

Possible Grief Trigger

Narrator C.S. Harder handled the delicate subjects of death and grief with consideration and care. A smooth reading.

Austin Bates has dealt with the subjects of death, depression, and grief with compassion.

A lot of the story deals with grief, and how there is no set way, or amount of time that is "usual" for processing the death of a family member. Or, for whom may be the best person to help them heal.

Mystery, investigation, and friends, wind through the plot as our main characters move ever closer to their romantic relationship. This is not a quick burn, but a slow journey of healing, trust, and love.

A great 1st. book in a new series

Talk about thinking out side the box. Mr. Bates stepped way outside the box with this book! The angst, the writing, the character development and the story lines just flow so effortlessly it's like a story that you would expect to see on the news or the big screen! I started this book while I was eating dinner and the next thing I knew it was 1:AM. I was pulled right into the book and just watched everything unfolded right their in front of me. The narration by Mr. C.S. Harder added so much more depth to the over all enjoyment of the book! Their are already so many written narratives/reviews explaining the who's and the what's, in the story lines; that I am not going to repeat them here. But I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be taken away and totally riveted to their chair for an afternoon or evening of a real listening experience. An avid reader/listener in Rock Tavern, NY.

Overall great book!!!

This Book was overall wonderful the storyline fantastic and most of the narration was great however I feel the narrator made the main Protagonist Mason sound like a 12 year old which was a little disconcerting considering he is a college student!!

Great Start To The Series

Too often I feel we let society’s expectations of what is right and wrong rule our lives. As a teenager, Mason developed a crush on Beau. At the same time Beau pulled away and kept his distance from Mason. When Mason’s father is killed, Beau steps in to help Mason and his mother. The death of Mason’s father. Hits him hard. In his grief Mason turns to Beau once again and they come together. They have their ups and downs, but when they come together for real, the emotions are explosive. Austin Bates has done another great job with this story. The character development is tremendous. This is a story you don’t want to miss. The narration by C.S Harder was some of the best I have experienced.

Age Isnt Everything!

This is a great love story as well as a steamy story. Age is a problem at first. Then Love, as it usually does. Wins. and they get their HEA!

Not bad, but not the best either

I didn’t like this book so much. It wasn’t that it’s not well written, but more that I personally didn’t enjoy it as much as other books by Austin Bates.
Even though I like this narrator, his narration style is more like listening to a story being told than seeing it come to life, if that makes sense. C.S. Harder has a nice voice, but I don’t think it’s a good fit for this kind of books.

Nice

Fun story with a bit of angst and HEA. Narration was well done if not distinct.
