Publisher's summary

One man can’t save the world, but he can raise the army.

Humanity might have died out once, but Isaac got a second chance at life, returning to the time when the [System] initialized. Grasping this chance with both hands, he worked tirelessly to bring his future knowledge to the masses, but even so, some disasters are inevitable.

After large swaths of LA were destroyed by a Lightning Elemental, the world is reeling from the consequences, while Isaac’s own actions have radically changed how the apocalypse will play out this time. Can he save the world from itself, or will he have to watch it end for a second time?

I dislike the part with his mom

She’s annoying so annoying. Good son though I guess. Getting yelled at for not being around annoyingness is too much of a real moment.

Slow but solid

Good strong storyline...what good to me sometimes were the extensive summon information and stats...even when the MC wasn't going for that level...but OK I guess

A good continuation, but kind of felt like half a book…

The story was engaging and I enjoyed this book. However, in terms of the plot of the overall series it felt kind of short in spite of having a decent runtime.

For about half the book the MC gets wrapped up in a sort of “side quest” that ends up having lots of indirect implications for the future but really didn’t do anything to directly move the over-arching story forward.

If you liked the first one then it’s probably worth picking up this one, but if the next book doesn’t do a better job of moving the story forward I will be less excited about continuing the series.

Still, overall I did enjoy listening to this audiobook.

Good continueation of the series

Story picks up where it last left off, and makes good progress with a good mixture of Story, comedy and exposition. One issue I end up having with these types of stories is that in a written format the stat sheets and overviews are fine, but in a narration it leads to several minutes of rote repetition of what was mentioned previously. Maybe only giving a delta or recap of changes would be less annoying than skipping several minutes at a time of tedious skill/stat reading.

Also some of the voice work seemed forced and not natural. The German accents were kinda funny as they either sound normal or like Arnold without much inbetween.

Fresh Take on a System Apocalypse Story

A good book to listen to over and over again. Isaac is the main character that is the last man standing after the apocalypse and gets the opportunity to go back to the beginning to change the fate of the world.

The system is a summoning system, where anyone can summon a monster to fight and level up. The catch is that humanity has to balance the need to get stronger against the risk that the monster they summon could kill the summoner and wipe out a city before it's stopped. Some choose poorly.

I like that the author addresses the fact that all the people he knew and fought beside for the last ten years, the people he watches die one after another, are gone forever. Isaac has to balance grieving for the friends and family that aren't just dead, but never even existed in this timeline against the young, unblooded man he has to pretend to be when he knows so much of the disasters that are coming.

Overall a great story and excellent leveling system with some nice surprises thrown in. I can't wait for the next one.

Pretty good

As far as reincarnation books go, it’s
Pretty good. Nothing extraordinary but definitely good. Voices are done well

Time skip was worth it

Great story and the time skip was needed, only fault is that the author explains every little thing the mc is thinking to a fault. Maybe he doesn’t need to explain all that’s going in his head or make a battle last 30 mins. But great overall.
