Great historical details.

Story was interesting. Found the narrator’s voice for Dan to be a bit dull and off putting but not enough to not enjoy the story. Liked it enough to immediately get the next book in the series.

The authenticity of the two main characters

I enjoyed the difference in the characters and the way they gradually understood each other. I also enjoyed the focus of finding out the true history

Good story, but bland, unlikable characters

The mystery was great. It’s what kept me from not putting down the book. But the characters need some work. They were bland. Dan is clearly unlikable and I kept wondering why Alan even wanted to befriend him. Overall though, it was a good story.

Much better than I thought it would be

Well written, wonderful story. Characters are well thought out and vivid. The writing is done well enough that the reader can easily visualize the cafes, the English roads and countryside. Fantastic story. My only half complaint is the narration. It's a bit monotone to the American ear. But you get used to it.

Mystery Maven

First episode, and it is the opening salvo for the characters. We have information but so much more to understand. Mystery was interesting and curious where book 2 takes us. Recommend especially if you are looking for “new” author.

Entertaining cold case mystery

This first edition is not a murder mystery but I liked it so much I did some research to see if more books were available and learned there will me murder involved in future stories. One reviewer referred to Dan and Alan as the odd couple. They are opposites, but they complement each other. Michael Campling is a talented author, and Greg Barnett hit it out of the park. I look forward to Audible adding all the books in this delightful series.

I did not like this book at all.

I was very grateful it was a short listen. Tedious conversations and not very entertaining......and always the snide innuendos. Tell a giood story that should be enough. This was a fail.
