Publisher's summary

Binge eating triggers do not cause binges…they cause desires. Each time you recognize those triggers and avoid rewarding them with food you are effectively breaking down the connection between the trigger and the desire until that same trigger no longer produces a craving at all.

In this book we cover:

  • Emotional triggers and their busters: low self-esteem, self-doubt, boredom, feeling deprived, financial concerns, feeling fat, stress and overwhelm, loneliness, shame, anxiousness, apathy, feeling powerless, etc.
  • Physical triggers and their busters: hunger, being too tired, that time of the month, thirst, etc.
  • Environmental triggers and their busters: the smell of food, passing old haunts - restaurants, bakeries, and others - lack of planning and preparation, social situations, nasty comments about your weight, nighttime eating, etc.
  • Thought-based triggers and their busters: “one little bite won’t hurt”, “the scale doesn’t budge”, “can’t decide which diet to follow”, worried you’ll feel deprived forever, “this can’t work forever”, “not enough time for self-care”, “i can’t afford to eat healthy”, “my cravings will last forever”, etc.

Amazing

Glenn Livingston is a man of God whether he knows it or not. Everything he writes is so scripturallyvsound it amazes me because I get the impression that he is not a believer! The only idea of his that I don’t agree with is the idea that overeating/ binge eating is a modern man induced condition. I don’t agree because gluttony is addressed in the Bible. Glenn’s simile of the inner pig perfectly parallels what the Bible calls the ‘flesh’. Mr. Livingston is Jewish ( I think he said he was ) which explains why he is so intelligently articulate! After all the Jewish people are God’s originally chosen people! This book is excellent and is capable of making a huge difference in people’s lives if they listen and apply his insights. Being trapped in the pigs deception has far more negative ramifications on a persons well being than just the weight.

So interested but impossible to listen to!!

Absolutely loved the first book that was actually read by Glenn Livingston, the author. But Tim Sinclair read this like a used car manual and it’s driving me crazy! In fact I’m not even sure if this is a real person reading it sounds like one of those computerize voices. Glenn has this incredibly warm, inviting and emotional tone when he read that cannot be replaced. So completely disappointed.

Easy read with some good tips

This book pretty much reinforces what we already know. Exactly why I listened to this audiobook. The only thing I was disappointed in was the constant negative references to animals. Although the author says you can call your inner voice that persuades you to make bad eating choices, whatever you want, he calls it “Pig.” I cringed every time I heard the word. Also referenced us, humans, being better than animals who according to him can’t control their impulses. Last time I checked, animals don’t murder for fun. Expected more enlightenment from a PhD.

This book is life changing

Having read and implemented the never binge again ( g Livingston’s first book) system I am finally able to get a real handle on my overeating and freedom from food obsessing, and weight issues I encourage anyone to read binge again and then this work which has a lot of helpful tools !

Very helpful

Helped me see my destructive thinking with regards to food in a new way that has enabled me to feel empowered to take care of myself and not the pig in my head. Well done, Glenn.

Fascinating Read

I’ve always questioned how intuitive eating can be the goal when cravings can feel so strong. This book (and the original book) resonated with me. Recommend both!

Finally a solution for overeating

He has such clarity and he is one of us . I have looked for an evidence based approach to overeating and had not found one. Hopefully someone will do some research and this approach will demonstrate its effectiveness. Doctors and therapists need to incorporate these strategies to help their patients. Very good useful practical advise.

Finally

Finally the reason for internal struggle makes sense, we do have a choice and not bound to our food addiction!
