Publisher's summary

Today has been the strangest day of my life. I know, that sounds like the dramatic ramblings of a 17-year-old girl, but it’s the absolute truth. Until today, I was an orphan, an uneducated ward of the government with no employment prospects on her horizon. But as of today, at least one of those is no longer true.

I may never know the parents who abandoned me at the age of four. And by most people’s standards, I will always be more streetwise than book-smart. But I have been offered a job. For the first time ever I am looking ahead to the next phase of my life, instead of focusing on a past I cannot change. Ironic, considering how little I know about my new employer and the position I’ve been offered...which is precisely nothing at all.

2446-89: Stassi's Diary is the prequel novella to The Syndicate: Timewaves Series, Book 1

Great listen

Fast paced, and great listen for a short drive. The prequel is a great way to get more background info on Stassi. The world building is great, and it’s fun to see how Stassi lived before prior to joining The Syndicate. The narrator is the perfect voice for Stassi. It was as if I was seeing everything unfold before me on my eyes. Loved it!! I received a free copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Great, quick listen!

Sophie Davis never disappoints their listeners / readers! For those that love the Timewaves Series, this novella, this novella is a great addition and I really enjoyed listening to Stassi's background and her intro into the series. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be released to listen to! The narrator did a great job and she helped the story flow nicely.

A Possible Future

2446-89: Stassi's Diary by Sophie Davis and narrated by Alison Schonhoff is the prequel to The Timewaves Syndicate trilogy. In this beginning we find out a little of Stassi's life and how she is picked to be employed. Life in the future sounds bleak, but the adventure is just starting. Both author and narrator are new to me. I have enjoyed both, and will look for more from both.
Would I listen to this book again? Possibly, as I might have missed something important, or just to clarify what I did hear.
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, as I would mention it as part of the entire package.

perfection

these ladies have knocked this prequel out of the park! the voice actress is perfect for Stassi. She's great with imparting emotion and a wonderful voice to listen to long term.

I loved listening to Stassi's history with Cyrus and seeing how she grew up (briefly) and ended up a runner for the Syndicate. I had read all available books before listening. I listen while driving to and from work each day, approx 30-40minutes one way. this is a great way to pass the time.

Impressive start to the series!

The year is 2463. Stassi is seventeen and has spent the last thirteen years in a work camp as a ward of the state. She is an orphan with no education and no employment but that's all about to change. It is the annual Calling Day, the day employers hire young ladies from the work camps. Stassi impresses Cyrus Atlic, an extremely wealthy man. He hires Stassi to acquire various objects through history via time travel.
I was extremely impressed by this novella and cannot wait to dive into Syndicate. Another strong series starter from Sophie Davis! The narration was perfect!

good, quick intro

A quick read in the form of a diary entry by Stassi, on the day she gets her mysterious job offer with the Syndicate. We get a glimpse of the life she has led at the work camps, and the relationships she has with the other kids there. I’m sure it will come into play more in the main series, and it’s good info to have going into the first book to get a feel for who Stassi is. We also get a good first peek and Cyrus, and the type of character he is, also a big thing for the series. Overall, a good primer as you launch into the first book.
