A collection of classic works by Edgar Allan Poe, American author, poet, editor, and literary critic. Best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, Poe was one of the earliest American practitioners of the short story and is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre. He is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. He was the first well-known American writer to try to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career.

As the subtitle would suggest, this volume is a motley and somewhat random collection of literary doodles written over the past ten years and nearly all of which were originally published in my blog. Nascentfiction.wordpress.com. The poem Howl 2022 was also published in my nonfiction collection, I Am Silently Correcting Your Grammar. I include it here because I feel it is a more suitable home for it. Similarly, the short story Childhood’s Last Disease was published in the same volume as the novel Specter of Grief as a “bonus,” and is included here for similar reasons.
