Self Mutilation

Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

It's taking place in homes across America at an alarming rate, a growing epidemic prevalent among teenagers from "good" homes. Self-mutilation or commonly known as "cutting", the act of intentionally harming oneself in an effort to deal with intense emotional pain, is a misunderstood phenomenon. This is one girl's struggle to fight against the urge in a twenty-four hour period.

Hat Man patrols the ether between realities, searching for despair, the life draining substance on which it feeds. In a cultural wasteland of liberal consensus, social justice and political correctness the creature is inevitably drawn to college campuses and the lies that are sold as truths. Here, amongst the frauds of feminism and the hollow nihilistic screams of emptiness it finds Timothy ‘Blasphemer’ Briggs, first year student and black metal singer, a lost and lonely boy who cries out for help and gets what he never expected to receive, an answer.
