Moral Brain

La dopamina ha sido el tema de muchos debates y discusiones entre neurocientíficos, médicos y analistas. Ha sido controvertido y fascinante al mismo tiempo. La dopamina parece darnos motivación para tener éxito, hacer ejercicio, buscar recompensas, sobrevivir y procrear. Nos recompensa cuando seguimos nuestros instintos y puede ser la fuente de un comportamiento adictivo. Las personas con TDAH tienen desafíos especiales con respecto a la fluctuación de la dopamina y parecen sufrir con frecuencia una deficiencia o una sobredosis.

El estudio de la anatomía y el funcionamiento del sistema nervioso y el cerebro se conoce como neurociencia. Para mapear el cerebro de manera mecánica, los neurocientíficos recurren a la biología celular y molecular, la anatomía y la fisiología, el comportamiento y la cognición humanos, y otros campos. Cada neurona, o célula cerebral, en un ser humano adulto tiene aproximadamente 100 mil millones de conexiones con otras neuronas. Todo aprendizaje se basa en la capacidad del cerebro para construir nuevos circuitos y conexiones neuronales, o neuroplasticidad.

Dr. Ryan Lozano studied Ethics at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, and then specialized in Healthcare Ethics at Loyola University Chicago. He completed his PhD in Philosophy of Religion and an EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership. He has been a full-time adjunct professor of Philosophy since 2011, and also works as a process improvement consultant, specializing in leadership mentoring and workforce engagement. He lives in Lockhart, Texas.
