Novela Nachové plachty, která vychází v edici Legendy, je křehký, jemný, laskavý a podmanivý příběh o síle snů, o okouzlení, o věštbě a jejím naplnění. Je to pohádkově krásný příběh, na jehož začátku je dívka Assol, která žije se svým otcem, bývalým námořníkem. Otec vyrábí napodobeniny lodiček a Assol je chodí na trh prodávat. Jedna z nich, ta s nachovými plachtami, se jí zalíbí. Hraje si s ní, pustí ji po řece, ale lodička jí uplave. Assol její plavbu sleduje, dojde až k místu, kde řeka ústí do moře.

Forth and Back and Other Stories is a lovely sampling of short stories from Russian author Alexander Grin (1880-1932). While Grin suffered through prison sentences and multiple exiles during his lifetime, his fiction often features fantasy worlds far more romantic and enticing than the harsh realities in which he lived. For those of us yet unfamiliar with Grin's work, Forth and Back serves as a perfect introduction to the fanciful creations of one of the great imaginations of the 20th century.
