The Beatles left an indelible mark not only on music, but on the culture in which they created it. In a time of great and sudden change, they led a generation into new territory, redefining the social landscape as a place where men and women could try on new roles. They led this change through their music, their public personae, and - under scrutiny - their example. The Beatles Guide to Love & Sex examines all three - the songs, the parts they played in public, and the way they led their lives, for better or worse. John, Paul, George and Ringo began their journey as typical working-class ...

A CHRISTMAS CLASSIC! THE BEST CHRISTMAS STORY IN 100 YEARS! Most people think they know the whole story of Ebenezer Scrooge, but they would be wrong. Charles Dickens only told us those parts of Scrooge's life that he felt best fit his story and not all of what he told was true. In addition, he told us almost nothing of Ebenezer's partner, Jacob Marley. f you only read one Christmas story this season make it "The Redemption of Jacob Marley" Jacob Marley played a much more important role in Scrooge's life than Charles Dixons told us. Perhaps the reason that Dickens omitted and changed so much...

Four of five daughters married! Disposing of so many daughters in marriage with little more than their good looks and charms to recommend them, is a distinction only Mrs. Bennet can claim, which she does, frequently. Many in Meryton thought such a feat impossible, and consider the Bennets to have been very fortunate indeed when news from Mrs. Darcy, or Mrs. Bingley, or Mrs. Ashworth is generously circulated throughout the village. Their felicity in marriage is assured. Fortunately for those in Meryton and beyond, little has been heard from Mrs. Wickham these four years since, but that ...

Jane Austen wrote Love and Friendship (originally spelled Love and Freindship [ sic]) when she was just 14 years old. The three notebooks that contain her early works, including this story, are currently on display at the Bodleian Library and the British Museum. Taking the form as letters written by the heroine to the daughter of her friend, this story resembles a fairy tale that lampoons the conventions of romantic stories at the time.
