The Folly and Vanity of Youth was inspired by a series of sermons preached by Benjamin Keach (1640-1704) on the parable of the laborers in the vineyard (Matthew 20: 1–16). Expanding upon Keach’s list of sins common to young people, Corey Johnson examines each one in detail, challenging the notion that young age absolves moral responsibility while consistently proclaiming Christ as the only hope for sinners. This book was written with the intention to help bring young people to maturity, encourage them to leave their childish ways.

One of the greatest joys of my nearly five decades of pastoral ministry has been preaching through books of the Bible. In trying to teach others I have learned so much myself. That certainly was true in the preparation and delivery of sermons on the book of Ecclesiastes. God used that study to work in me a deepening, resilient joy that is unafraid to look at the sorrows and hardships of life east of Eden. Through this book I am delighted to share some of the abiding lessons from Ecclesiastes with you.

This book contains a defense of the idea that God’s rest on Day 7 of the creation week is instructive for people today. More technically, this book argues for the propriety of weekly Sabbath rest. This means that the normal pattern to be followed by humanity is a week, consisting of seven 24-hour days, six of which are spent in work while the other day is devoted to rest. The letters in this book were born out of a deep love for Joy and Dean by friends and family. We desired to walk with them through this hard journey and support them however we could. My hope is that these letters, originally written to support my sister through her suffering, will provide some comfort and encouragement to other fellow-sufferers who are walking a hard path.
