I was a lucky child. Not only did I grow up in a loving family in the beautiful countryside of France, but my parents also had a large fireplace. That fireplace was one of the cornerstones of our family. Every year, for one or two months, my family and I would reunite every evening around the fireplace. My father would grill chestnuts in the fire, and I would stand there fascinated, watching the flames roam free, hearing the log crackle and turn red.
