More time at Dreadmore. Things should go smoothly this time, amirite? Except that Kiera has a significant memory loss and things are going awry on campus. Can’t a necromancer get a break? Why does her magic seem to be so messed up? What’s going on with that? Kiera needs answers and no one seems to want to share them with her. And now there’s this… she can’t remember but knows that there’s someone she should be able to remember. Ugh. Magic sucks sometimes.

Another semester at Dreadmore. Hopefully this one will be drama-free. Or not. Kent’s on campus again and he seems to have it in for me. Can a necromancer get a break? Oh and he’s got it in for Ezra too. And what’s up with the gargoyles that have decided to attack? How’d we go from death fairies to gargoyles? And why the heck isn’t Ezra making us official? How’s a girl—erm, necromancer girl—supposed to deal with this on top of the murderous gargoyles?

Carina just wants to have a normal summer. She wants to work her part-time job at the ice cream shop, hang out with her best friend at the river, and think about how awesome college is going to be in the fall. Of course, it’s pretty difficult for her to forget that she saw dragons, not to mention that she is apparently and elf queen—and then there’s the thing with the unexplained ability to put out a small fire. Okay, forget all that. Forget it. Forget it. Mission accomplished. Forgotten. Until an elf steps out of the shadows.

Aras has lost Oriana’s trust, but he still needs her blood. Cade’s jealousy over Lily’s attempts to stay in touch with Declan can put him and the entire cause at risk if he can’t keep his mind in the battle that they are facing. Cade finds himself even more distracted when his cousin Donovan wants to join the cause, and Cade personally determines to train him for the upcoming battles with the necromancers.
