Kleist ist dabei gewiss von den Philosophen der Antike, namentlich Seneca mit seinem Aufsatz "Vom glücklichen Leben". Seine Sicht ist dabei überraschend modern und bietet auch dem heutigen Hörer die eine oder andere neu Erkenntnis.
