How can someone possibly fortify themselves against a narcissist and live another day to tell the story? Sometimes it feels like we just do not know where to start to begin a new chapter of our lives.

The narcissist cannot help but be a negativist. Most of his life was taken away from him by someone else who was domineering, over-protective, smothering, aloof, depressed, or self-indulgent. His mother or his father didn't think to teach him much of anything. He feels deprived at being sent out in the world, completely unprepared as to how to go about much of anything. The narcissist is a negativist because he dislikes his perceived inability to control the 'play' that he is a part of.
