  • Merle Yost, Psychotherapist, Speaks
    Mar 14 2024
***Warning*** Listening discretion is advised. Rape, cult, and animal cruelty references when Merle recants his ACE’s (adverse childhood experiences). Merle Yost, renowned California psychotherapist, teacher, and private practice therapist for over 30 years, specializes in trauma, particularly for men sexually abused as children. He is an Approved Consultant in EMDR, a San Francisco Gestalt Institute graduate, has a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology: Transpersonal Specialization, and a B.A. in Management. As if this wasn’t impressive enough, he is the author of six books. The latest is Facing the Truth of Your Life, https://a.co/d/iqBILbV. Merle is also promoting his new workshop series, Seven Steps to Powerful Boundaries. https://unspokenboundaries.com/ I am honored to have an episode where we get to hear a male’s voice detailing their ACE’s. I have found many of my male friends have experienced ACEs but find it difficult to speak about them publicly. Merle will help many find their voice. Today’s show is twofold: we get Merle’s therapeutic wisdom, along with his disclosed ACEs. During the interview, I learned so much! I hope you appreciate this free therapy session that gives us a wealth of knowledge, explanations, and understanding of cults and ACEs. I cannot begin to tell you all of the topics covered in this hour episode. You must listen to catch all these precious nuggets. Please, sit down and unpack with WANOS, how all traumas can be released from the body, even PTSD. Men, et al, will appreciate how Merle validates many of abuses happening - commonly seen as isolated toward girls - to being just as prevalent with boys. Merle says the schools are currently full of teachers taking advantage of students. He has many of them as his clients. Merle stated, ‘Inappropriate sexual encounters are taunted as supposedly enjoyable experiences for boys. This makes ACEs even more under reported among them. However, this leaves many carrying shame.’ The episode is packed full of topics and nuggets of unmitigated wisdom. Merle unabashedly speaks on: cults, boundaries, ACE’s, forgiveness, isolation, school system assaults, religious authorities insults, eroticized shame related to ACEs (BDSM), and he discusses how a proven technique, Somatic Therapy, can rid the body of trauma and allow us to live our best lives. Listen how Somatic Therapy can also take away PTSD. Merle Yost is a master of his craft. How can you help WANOS help others? From your platform, COMMENT, FOLLOW, LIKE, and REVIEW the podcast. • Colleen’s Update After Parts I and II
    Feb 29 2024
Colleen’s follow up interview updates us on the meetup of her biological dad and newly found family members after not knowing them for over 50 years. What a story! Beautiful endings can come from some ACEs. This is one of them! Your hearts will be full for Colleen because we know some NPE (non parental event) journeys will never come close to this spectacular experience. Join WANOS as Colleen finishes her story. If you are a product of NPE, a great Facebook group referral from Colleen is: NPE Friends - Gateway. Run by admin to maintain anonymity that allows entrance into the NPE group with over 9,000 members. I recommend listening to Parts I and II, if you are only hearing the followup. If this was your journey, know you are never alone. Help is out there for you! How can you help WANOS help others? From your platform, COMMENT, FOLLOW, LIKE, and REVIEW the podcast. Vonetta Roseman is from Mississippi. Vonetta is a mother of one and served in the United States Air Force for 24 years in the electronics field. She has had numerous engagements speaking about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). STEM is dedicated to science teaching strategies and the most effective ways to recruit, retain, and educate the next generation of scientists. Vonetta passionately advocates for young girls to pursue STEM fields. She states, “I have been retired 5 years and in the last two years decided to start entrepreneurship. My mission is the education of others towards financial literacy and woman empowerment.” Vonetta Roseman can be reached on social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. You may email the show at wanos23@yahoo.com to share your story. Dr. Monroe’s memoir regarding grief is entitled: Mom’s Search For Meaning by Melissa M. Monroe. Her openly discussing grief and stating that we should all talk about grief is why I started conversations surrounding grief. Prior to her words, I never knew how. I still do not fully understand this, but I repeat her story and share her book. Also, T.D. Jakes helps us when stating, all of us are God’s gifts and we are temporarily here. Prayers and/or love and light to all who have lost loved ones. How can you help WANOS help others? From your platform, COMMENT, FOLLOW, LIKE, and REVIEW the podcast. • Interview with Dr. Bob Beare, PhD, Counselor, Best Selling Author, Actor, and Singer/Songwriter
    Feb 1 2024
Dr. Bob, as we call him, discusses his recent best-selling book on healing and releasing trauma, Stop Doing Sh*t You Don’t Want To Do. He also shares his life experiences and how to successfully overcome addiction. We Are Not Our Secrets welcomes this Psychologist, mentor, actor, and father to the podcast. Dr. Bob says, ‘“Too much (emotional) safety is dangerous.” We should show our true emotions and be our authentic selves. Every emotion has value. Experiencing them can help prevent us from not having these pressurized explosions waiting to happen.’ Dr. Bob also drops some controversial nuggets, ‘The psychiatry world may be doing more harm than good.’ Why? ‘Addicts created the 12 step program to overcome addiction because psychiatry methods offered no solutions. “If someone does the 12 step program, in its entirety, it is 100% effective!” The masters and doctoral programs produces more thinkers — not healers.’ You may email the show at wanos23@yahoo.com to share your story.
