This book is truly challenging to read. It’s scary, but the atmosphere is just right. This book has good, fleshed-out characters, a moody atmosphere, and I feel like I get a really clear picture of how all the locations are and how it feels being there.

It doesn’t shy away from a difficult subject like suicide and explores it from various angles. It delves into how someone copes with the trauma of losing someone to suicide and how some might feel like it’s the only way out.

The protagonist seems set up for failure throughout the book, a feeling I believe many others experience with similar problems. It feels incredibly realistic and frustrating because she has options but seems to be limiting herself.

While it’s a good horror book and can be frustrating at times, I’ve realised that’s part of what makes it enjoyable. I do think this book would make a fantastic mini-series or even a really good, although frustrating, video game. To the author, thank you for another fantastic book. I loved your previous one too, but not as much as this one. I can’t wait to see what you’ll write next.

I don’t like to bash on narrators, especially in the age of AI narration which is rough to say the least. However, the female narrators’ sarcastic and overly expressive way of reading made this really hard to get through. This type of thing is subjective, but it was the lowest part of the experience for me. The story itself had potential but I felt it was never realized. And not scary at all.

The ending needed to be better. I'm sure there is not a second book. Crazy, or really haunted. I'll go with crazy!

Although the story itself was an interesting concept, it was not very well executed. Why were so many of the rules so specific? Where did this curse come from? The main character hardly had a personality, the side characters were more believable. Pretty much the only part of the story that gave me chills was the very last line.

Also this narrator is so hard to listen to. At random points they drop their voice so low I can’t hear them. But I can’t turn the volume up because when they’re loud, they’re uncomfortably loud.

Enjoy this very much! The story was engaging from start to finish. I enjoyed the diverse of characters. It had a creepy atmosphere throughout the book. Narrator was AMAZING! Highly recommend. Ending was CHILLING! Jaw DROPPED!
