Almost Famous step aside: the new golden gods of rock have arrived.” —Katy Hays, New York Times bestselling author

This USA TODAY bestseller is a powerful and transportive novel about a music executive desperately trying to bring a rock band back from the brink, perfect for fans of Daisy Jones & the Six and In Five Years.

The best love stories are the ones you don’t expect.

When ambitious record executive Theo meets the Future Saints, they’re bombing at a dive bar in their hometown. Since the death of their manager, the band has been in a downward spiral and Theo has been dispatched to coax a new—and successful—album out of them, or else cut them from the label.

He’s both entranced and challenged by Hannah, the group’s lead singer. She’s gone off script by debuting a new sound, replacing their signature California pop with gut-wrenching rock, and she won’t listen to anyone’s direction, least of all Theo’s, as she and her sister, Ginny, undermine him at every turn. When this new music goes viral, striking an unexpected chord with fans, the bickering Saints get one last shot at the success they’ve been chasing, even as Hannah’s increasingly destructive antics threaten the survival of the band—and her relationship with her sister.

“A heart tugging love story woven into a journey of grief, denial, and the relationships we’ll do anything to hold onto. The Future Saints is not to be missed” (Annabel Monaghan, New Times bestselling author).

I enjoyed the love story and the characters. It made me want to go out and buy the album (even though it doesn’t exist)!

I loved the music aspect

This book had me from the very beginning. An imperfect woman trying to find her way through unimaginable grief, channeling that grief into music that deeply touches the band’s audience. The loss of her sister mires her in despair and causes turmoil for the band, all while Hannah fights to put her authentic feelings in songs as she strives to honor her sister. The author captures the unique love between sisters, the torture of loss, and lots of imperfect characters navigating the music scene and growing success.

Absolutely loved it!

Such a wonderful ride!

Y'all. I don't read a ton of non-romance books. And this book... wow. Thank you so much to Atria for the advanced copy!

This is a beautiful story of heartbreak, brokenness, connection, and how having meaningful relationships with people who genuinely care about you can change your life. Theo meets The Future Saints at their rock bottom. Their manager passed away and the band fell apart, no one more than lead singer/guitarist Hannah. Hannah's grieving the loss of her sister, and Kenny and Ripper are processing their grief in their own way. But when their label sends Theo into their depths, they reject his help and haze him, and uniting the band against him... works. They find their footing. And, all along, Hannah continues to drown in her grief.

This story is special because it shows us at multiple levels how the band members each move through the world as individuals, as a unit, in their industry, in the media, with fans, and in relation to the human experience. When life becomes a spectacle, and the characters have to ponder their own actions and what is driving them. When a stranger says something to them, and a character has to acknowledge that they know nothing about you and that their experience is just that... their own experience, one single perspective from one single person who has their single knowledge about you and the world. The complexities and the simplicities in this story have woven together a beautiful story of truths and heartbreak. All the while, Hannah grieves, and Theo holds her hand through it all (or he gives her the best hug I've ever personally experienced in all of fictional history *sobs*).

I initially picked up my physical book to read, but after rave reviews, I also downloaded the audiobook and oh. my. god. that was the best decision I could've made. This has a full cast of narrators - Ali Andre Ali, Brittany Pressley, Vikas Adam, Tyla Collier. It's incredible. This story relies so heavily on the emotion and inner workings of the band, the inside feelings that only people who know you intimately can read vs outside feelings that you let the world see, demand, consume. This audiobook brings this story to absolute life, and it'll be one I remember for a long time.

what to expect:

the voice of Theo sounds like AI and it bothered me throughout the audio book. The story itself wasn't as good as Daisey Jones, but alright.

just ok

Kind of your run of the mill musician/band book with anticipated issues, and a little (expected) tragedy.

Meh.
