Publisher's Summary

Mo Collins survived the beginning of the zombie apocalypse by doing nothing but staying on the replica pirate ship the Viva Ancora. But after what he thought was a chance meeting of another survivor, Smokes, everything changed.

Mo has become the hero in a story seemingly channeled by Smokes. Following what sounds like a prewritten script, Mo and Smokes gathered a motley crew of typical zombie apocalypse survivors. Well, typical, except the zombies in this screenplay are called peevies, and are not dead but blue, naked, shit spewing infected humans who are rapidly evolving into sadistic monsters that will rip you apart and eat you slowly.

With the help of the expert, the tech, the old friend, and the oracle, they have defended their new island home from zombie hordes, betrayers, and villainous dictators. Oh, and they survived a plane crash while rescuing Mo’s brother. Who said being the hero would be easy.

But now this group of protagonists have set sail on a quest to find a supposed cure for the infection. What new adventures will they encounter? What new dangers will they find? Will they find new friends? New foes? Will Smokes find more Newport’s?

Follow Mo and his crew on their continuing adventures as they try to tempt fate and chart their way down the river.

In waters where the fish bite, the Zombies bite...and sometimes life bites.

Welcome aboard, friend, to Zombie River Run!

Zombies and pirates together at last!

This series has become one of my favorites, especially in audiobook form. Mr. Javan Bonds has created a LOL funny group of characters that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Mo Collins, the main protagonist, is on his way to find a possible cure for the zombie invasion that has overrun the world. His motley crew aboard the replica pirate ship, the Viva Ancora, includes all of the main characters I have come to love. My favorite character, Smokes, doesn't figure into this book as much as in some of the previous ones, but his presence is still felt in a huge way. On the way to find the cure, Mo and his crew have to stop at the numerous locks and dams along the rivers in order to navigate. Mo's new sister-in-law is the only person who can handle the technology and Mo seems to be destined to be one of her bodyguards at each lock. Of course, with Mo along, there are plenty of peevie encounters at each stop. Mo's brother, Easy, insists that they make a detour to Tuscaloosa to pick up the Alabama football teams' National Championship trophy. We all know that this is super important in a world being overrun by blue infected people trying to eat everyone who isn't blue, right? Mr. Bonds continues to throw in plenty of references to sci-fi, comic books, and other geeky things, which is one of the things that makes this series unique and enjoyable. He also describes each and every battle scene and individual death in a unique way and these scenes are never boring. You never know what gruesome detail you will hear next. I have been waiting for the appearance of pirates in this series and this time around, I finally got my wish! The encounter between our beloved protagonists and a horde of pirates was a highlight of this book. S.W. Salzman has become the voice of this series and even when I am reading a physical book set in this series, his voices for each of the characters is what I hear in my head. I can't imagine these books without his narration! It makes a great series even better, if that's possible! If you are easily offended by gore, blood, brutal descriptions of body parts, political incorrectness or the f-bomb, don't read this series. But, if you are looking for something different in the growing zombie genre, give it a try. Just be prepared to be laughing or sometimes cringing throughout the book! I was given the chance to listen to this book by the author and narrator and chose to review it.

Still Alive book 5

Another masterpiece by Javan Bonds. I absolutely love the pves (zombies) they are a new spin on a classic scare tactic. Blue, naked and shitting everywhere it is hard not to laugh. This whole series has me laughing so much. I can not pin just one thing I love about this series because the whole thing is a riot. Salzman really gives life to the characters as well. The combination of Javan's brilliance with Salzman's voice will have you in tears. Can't wait to start book 6.

Funny, but also dark

This is by far the darkest book in the series. Definitely less funny and more intense than the previous. There were some points that had intense cringe and were hard to get through, but at this point I'm invested and so curious to see where this goes. This book is completely packed with suspense and really covers the darker side of Bond's zompacalypse. As the characters fight on to survive the Peevies evolve in even more twisted and completely nasty ways that are completely entrancing and terrifying. It's like watching a car crash. You just can't look away. Bonds and Salzman are a really dynamic team and I'm looking forward and slightly terrified to listen to the next in the series.

Brilliant!

Zombie River Run is the perfect followup to the fourth book. The series is exciting, entertaining, and utterly engaging. The characters are well-developed, fascinating, and intriguing. Javan Bonds is a brilliant author, captivating the readers/listeners with his imagination, world-building, and characters. The narration by S.W. Salzman is outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed his performance; he brought the story to life. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Totally hooked

Javan Bonds's colourful and diverse characters, and laugh-out-loud scenes, and "no, he didn't just say that' dialogue has kept me totally entertained. Mo and a carefully chosen crew are traversing the river on the Viva Ancora, the pirate ship, on a mission to find a cure. Easy has a calling of his own, reclaiming Alabama's football team's National Championship trophy, managing to convince the very reluctant Mo to make make a detour to Tuscaloosa. With nasty cannibalistic nudists blue zombie infestation, and insane humans roaming about, what possibly can go wrong? Zombie River Run is a hilarious, fast-paced, zombie-killing gory adventure with loads of sci-fi cultural reference for us nerds to revel over. A stellar performance by S.W. Salzman, particularly with contrasting accents for all the various characters. He brought each one to life. I'd listen to more of his work. I highly recommend Still Alive Series; it's cleverly-written, witty, and highly entertaining with quality narration.

Outstanding

As my headline says.....outstanding. Outstandingly book and narration. I forgot to mention this on my review for book 4.....I love the narrator’s voice for the Medicine Man when he’s wearing the Darth Vadar mask.....absolute genius! I love all the science fiction mentions....this is one of the reasons this series appeals to me, I am a proud nerd! Plus Javan gives mentions to other Indie authors which is really lovely. I am eagerly awaiting book 6.....you guys cannot produce it fast enough for me lol. Thank you. My favourite audible series.

At long last

The story finally has reached the place I always wanted it to... the river run brings us more action and more importantly actual pirates ☠ with cannon fire and the full works. It keeps on delivering with the humour and predictability in a good way.

Not My Brother’s Zombies

Whoa! We are learning more and more about these Blunatics. They are getting grosser and shoot so are the people, not our Good Guys of course. I don’t think I can ever say I’ve heard it all when it comes to Zombies, because Javan keeps throwing curve balls at me. I really enjoy the Cast of Characters at the end of the books, really keeps with the whole “movie” theme. And this one had an even nicer surprise at the end. Guess you will have to read it to find out what it was. Salzman, your voices gosh, such an array and so on point!

That went quick

Another great book added to the series! Most and E.Z. are bad to the bone and ready for almost everything. How about killing sone serious zombie butt and then tac on a little human butt and done with some serious humor! love Mo! He keeps evolving and has become better with each book can't wait to see what he does next! The narrator does an amazing job with every book and this one is as exceptional as the rest. This book is well worth the time energy and money. You will love it!
