Exciting!

First, I'm going to say the sound effects are a pretty awesome touch!

Now for the story. Eve is stuck in a marriage going nowhere and turns to another man, Rubin. That gets interesting fast and both are dropped into the middle of a batte between good and evil. The story is fast paced, great descriptions and character building. Wixley never stops driving the plot. This is one that will keep you on the edge!

Great Series

Excellently written and performed, the book expands upon the story of the first book adding context to the events of the first whilst maintaining the dark and forbidding atmosphere.
Nigel Peever once again brings a story to life with his engaging reading. The characters are vivid in the listener's mind through his interpretation, and his calm and measured narration keeps the listener reassured.

Fast paced, creepy and has lots of twists

I think this is my favourite in the Witchfinder series so far, it is an enthralling battle of good vs evil. You are quickly pulled into a dark story of horror, demonic occurrences, ghosts, witchcraft, and destroyed lives. The story is fast paced, with great descriptions and the sound effects added into the narration really make the telling atmospheric. The characters are well development, and the authors evocative writing, paired with the distinctive narration really makes you feel their struggles and emotions. I especially became attached to Rubin and my heart broke for the mental and physical anguish he endured in this story. This book delves into aspects of good and evil, and the dark and light in human nature. It is creepy with lots of twists and it will stay with you long after the last disturbing page is done.

Good VS Evil #4

I enjoyed listening to this deep dark fantasy thriller with horror, witches, devil, and ghosts and is good versus evil. My favorite character was Rubin (grieving with loss of his infant son) then Eve, Kane, Poppy and the dogs. Enjoyed the ending and recommend if you enjoy deep fantasy. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

This book will live forever... in your soul

In a world cloaked in darkness, where malevolent forces loom ominously on the horizon, E.M.G. Wixley's "Zach's Cross: How to Live Forever," the fourth installment in The Witchfinder Series, invites listeners on an enthralling journey through the shadows of the United States and the United Kingdom. Narrated by the incomparable Nigel Peever, this audiobook is a symphony of auditory delight and literary finesse, enthralling the senses with every word spoken.

Set against a backdrop of impending evil, we are reintroduced to a group of resilient characters—Max, Angelica, Charlie, Poppy, and Kane—whose unwavering light shines amidst the encroaching darkness. Their struggle to trust each other and survive in this perilous world forms the heart of the narrative. Wixley masterfully weaves a tale of suspense, intrigue, and the eternal battle between good and evil.

Saffron, a character fueled by insatiable greed, threatens to unravel the intricate tapestry of knowledge and power that witches have accumulated. Meanwhile, Mathew and the relentless witchfinders are in relentless pursuit, determined to seize the one thing that can grant them absolute dominion over Earth. Amidst this chaos, a forbidden affair between Eve and Rubin ignites a fuse that leads them into the heart of this epic battle.

Wixley's storytelling prowess shines through in every chapter. Her narrative is a rollercoaster of emotions, offering a rich tapestry of character development, gripping descriptions, and a meticulously constructed world that will leave you spellbound. The author skillfully expands upon the events of the previous books, providing essential context while maintaining the dark and foreboding atmosphere that has become the hallmark of The Witchfinder Series.

One character who steals the spotlight is Rubin, a deeply compelling figure who undergoes profound suffering and transformation. His journey through grief, loss, and his quest for redemption adds a layer of depth to the story that is both heart-wrenching and uplifting. As listeners, we become intimately connected to Rubin's struggles, making his triumphs all the more rewarding.

The ensemble cast of characters is vast and diverse, each contributing to the multifaceted narrative. Eve, Rubin's lover, grapples with the stagnant waters of her marriage, seeking solace and understanding from Max, a wise and cat-loving character. Eve's brother Tristan, her mother, and her husband, Constable Eddie, all add layers of complexity to the story.

Max, Greystone (his cat), Saffron, Detective Shaun Jones, his father Arthur, Gale, Angelica, Rusty, Kane, Charlie, Angelica's loyal dog Rose, the enigmatic Vicar, dog Bramble, Professor Brandon, Poppy, Flint, Matthew, Joe, and a host of others populate this intricately woven tale. Their interactions and entanglements form the sinews of the narrative, creating a richly textured world filled with intrigue, suspense, and unexpected twists.

Wixley does not shy away from the macabre, infusing the story with gruesome murders on a yacht, mutilated bodies, shadowy figures, vengeful ghosts, and the eerie presence of witches and demons. The author's vivid descriptions evoke visceral reactions, from bodies dissolving into gruesome mush to soft flesh being ripped and devoured. The bone-chilling scenes of violence and horror are offset by moments of poignant reflection and existential introspection.

Dreams and nightmares blur the lines between reality and the supernatural, creating an atmosphere fraught with tension and the pervasive stench of malevolence. The eternal struggle between light and darkness is a recurring theme, echoing the inner turmoil faced by the characters as they confront their deepest fears and desires.

At the heart of this multifaceted narrative is the character of Eve, a woman grappling with the profound losses in her life. Her journey of self-discovery and healing takes center stage as she seeks solace in Max's wise counsel. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes the caretaker of a mysterious man on the brink of death.

The interplay between hope, darkness, and the enigmatic nature of this stranger forms a central plotline that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. As Eve delves deeper into the mystery surrounding her charge, the audiobook explores profound themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the eternal battle between good and evil.

Nigel Peever's narration is nothing short of exceptional. His velvety voice brings each character to life, capturing the essence of their personalities and the depth of their emotions. Peever's skillful use of tone, cadence, and inflection immerses listeners in the story, making it feel as though the characters are speaking directly to them. His ability to convey the subtleties of Wixley's writing adds an unparalleled layer of depth to the audiobook.

Peever's performance is a symphony of emotions, seamlessly transitioning from moments of heart-wrenching sorrow to heart-pounding suspense. His nuanced portrayal of Rubin's anguish and Eve's inner turmoil is particularly moving. Peever's narration is a testament to his mastery of the craft, elevating "Zach's Cross: How to Live Forever" to a transcendent auditory experience.

Beyond the stellar narration, the audio quality of this audiobook is flawless. The production team has spared no expense in ensuring that every sound, every word, is crystal clear. The seamless integration of sound effects and music enhances the immersive quality of the listening experience, creating an atmospheric backdrop that enhances the storytelling.

In conclusion, "Zach's Cross: How to Live Forever" is a masterful work of audio storytelling that deserves the highest praise. E.M.G. Wixley's fine writing, combined with Nigel Peever's exceptional narration and the impeccable audio quality, create an auditory experience that is nothing short of mesmerizing.
