Publisher's Summary

The forecast for tomorrow?

Bloody!

Z Children 2: The Surge is action-packed from start to finish. Focusing on JW and Virginia's group, the story captures the true ugliness and sacrifice that goes along with survival.

Buckle up as a rescue mission is brimming with spine-tingling terror. An armored truck becomes the new Alamo. And there's a wedding which is anything but "a happily ever after".

JW's group has made camp in a hotel overlooking a Dallas hospital where someone is trapped. Bonnie and Ranger, the now-inseparable duo, have faith that JW can not only stay alive, but also save this person from an otherwise certain death. JW, however, isn't so sure. He's faced enemies before but nothing as unsettling as the innocent death masks these Z children wear.

The ex-special forces drifter used to believe he'd seen the worst the world had to offer.

He was wrong.

The small ones are still fast

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It ends very abruptly with a cliffhanger, just like book one.

Any additional comments?

Let's start with the end. The last book ended with a cliffhanger, and so does this one. The book jumps back and forth between characters, groups and in time. The authors do a pretty good job of helping keep track of where and when, so it isn't overly confusing. The zombie children are still fast, vicious and smart. I found the introduction of a new/old relationship between some of the main characters distracting and unrealistic. The last thing you need when you are trying to survive is a couple snapping at each other and everyone around them. Oh, and the scene where the guy goes in search of a stranger armed only with a name and general location, not going to happen.
All in all, it was entertaining if taken with a large grain of salt.
Johnny Mack gives another good performance.

Excellent addition to the series, but......

This is book 2 in a series. You should really start with Z Children Awakening before starting this book.
I loved this addition, although not as much as book 1. The first book had a number of characters and told each of their stories. A lot of characters came together and made small groups of 2 or 3. What really disappointed me with this book, is that it mainly focused on one group. It was about 6 hours before another group was even mentioned. Then there's one group that had no story time whatsoever. You left us with 2 groups coming together, or at least we thought, at the ending of book 1. Now book 2 picks up and those groups aren't together and we have no idea what happened.
I will be listening to book 3 and hoping the writing style goes back to book 1.
I can't praise the narration enough! Mr. Mack is awesome!

So much better than I expected

Any additional comments?

The zombie children are frightening. This book was so good, I went and purchased the first book so I could find out how everything unfolded. I received this audiobook for free though Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

Great Book

Any additional comments?

This was a very good book. It's full of creepy zombie kids and is full of action. I can't wait for the next book in the series! The narrator did a great job.

Second book in a good zombie series!

Second book in a good zombie series. Looking forward to a third book. I received this audio book for free for an honest review. I encountered a glitch at 2 minutes in, all the way to minute 16, of total silence. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. Good characters, fast plot, what more can you ask for? Come on book three!

Scary Zombies Kids Are Back

Book 2 of the Z children series as good as the first. Love the fact the kids are more aggressive and smarter than adult zombies. Enjoy some of the survivor characters but has cliffhanger ending , need the next book ASAP. Highly recommend this unique series! fantastic

Z Children:The Surge is the second book in the series by authors B V Barr and Eli Constant. As the story continues we get more suspense, action, drama... the characters get more developed - some likeable and some not so much. The story is creative, interesting and keeps you addicted. Again we end in a cliffhanger and I can not wait for book three.

•The audiobook is narrated by Johnny Mack. The story's enjoyment value is amped up with this voicework. The voice is pleasant and perfect for this narration. The recording is smooth and clear. Fantastic!

Best of the three but did not like ending

Of the 3 books I like this one most but I did not like the ending I hate be left dangling with unfinished ending not knowing when the ending will be picked up and finished. Since I can not find a 4th book the reader is left hanging.
The storyline in this book mostly stayed with one set of characters most of the way thru and their adventures to try and stay alive and get from Texas to Atlanta with many short stops in different places and you meet Virginia's Chris is not a man but a women who adds to the story so much with her hatred of all men and her hatred of everything and not willing to admit their survival was due to JW and his dog.
One of the side story drought in was of Susan Sherry's friend who is on a boat with her father and her 2 children. In this storyline Susan has to leave the boat to get supplies for them and she shows even though she is a meek and mild woman she will do whatever it takes to survive. Also you a young man who Susan runs into and tells of the horror that he witnessed at his wedding were e everyone is killed even his new wife.
This book is more touching and the characters seems so much more realistic and alive but to you can feel their pain and horror they go through.

And the adventure continues

This is an incredible follow up from the first one. We meet more characters and see what continues to happen to the world as the Z virus takes more victims. As they race to figure out where safety is and form new relationships, you will continue to cheer and cry with them.

The narrator continues to go above and beyond so many others with how he brings each character to life and gives them personality. I absolutely love this narrator!

This series is getting better with each book

I have listened to the first book and enjoyed it, but this one is better

I love the different stories and the build on the characters from the first book

It’s performed well and is easy to distinguish between all the different characters

I’m really looking forward to listening to the third book
