I am going to have to listen again...
At first, I hated this. The author's voice grated on me. I was wishing she would have someone else read her work, or take turns reading with another poet. After a few poems in, I was able to mentally sync up with her rhythm and I could better appreciate her. At times I felt like she was chanting, like in an Eastern religious service. I need to read these poems on my own a few times and then listen again. The performance lends itself to modern interpretive dance, with the repeated phrases and enunciation. I hope the author does something similar with other poetry, but with percussionists and dancers. This is great material, amazing art, and it begs for collaboration.

Wow. Just Wow.
Wow, is all I can say. I felt like I was in a smoky hole in the wall bar in the East Village, listening to poetic justice. Will recommend this to all my friends.
