He's hiding a dark secret...but so is she

A stunning new thriller about the burden of shame from blockbuster author Sara Foster

Lizzie Burdett was 18 when she vanished, and Noah Carruso has never forgotten her. She was his first crush, his unrequited love. She was also his brother's girlfriend.

Tom Carruso hasn't been home in over a decade. He left soon after Lizzie disappeared under a darkening cloud of suspicion, and now he's back for the inquest into Lizzie's disappearance - intent on telling his side of the story.

As the inquest looms, Noah meets Alice Pryce on holiday. They fall for each other fast and hard, but Noah can't bear to tell Alice his deepest fears. And Alice is equally stricken...she carries a terrible secret of her own.

Is the truth worth telling if it will destroy everything?

Twists and turns

I loved this book soooo much! Only thing, for an American, when you have a character named Ellis and one named Alice, the Aussie accent can be a challenge. But Sarah Foster is an all time fave, and I love every book of hers.

So very good!!

Such a good story. Not predictable. I found it genuinely represented the role trauma plays in our lives and in our future choices. The author didn’t wrap everything up with a perfect ending, but the ending was authentic and satisfying. I really appreciate this author’s work!

Great Listen

Sara does a great job of showing how people bring their childhood into adulthood. How letting go is the only way forward in life. Another great book!!

Meh

It was ok. It had too much obsessive romance for my liking. The performers did a great job.

Entertaining

This was a good story and an enjoyable listen. I found it a bit gushy and the main male character was a bit annoying, so points off for that.

great thriller but too romantic

Too many.. romantic scenes for my taste. started slow. But once in the story and the mystery I needed to know what happened. The ending made it worth it.

Beautiful narration and story

Both of the narrators are so easy to listen to and did an excellent job portraying the characters and emotions. After listening I hundreds of books, these two are in my top 3 favorites for narration. The story is also amazing and had me from the first few sentences. I’m trying to remember the last time that I’ve enjoyed an Audible book so much (probably not since Eleanor Oliphant, which is hard to top).

Well written!

A solid story with lots of emotion and pathos. Great characters and an engaging plot with twists and turns, family dynamics and drama, and a degree of romance. Unfortunately the ending, or lack of one, lets the story down. SPOILER ALERT: After 10+ hours of listening I expected more than a two sentence ‘see you next year’ conclusion.
