Publisher's summary

"The constant twists will keep the readers hooked. This is a nonstop thrill ride." --Publishers Weekly

The Cahills of San Francisco are famous for two things: their vast wealth, and the scandals that surround them. Murder, greed, deadly ambition...some people will do anything to get, and keep, the Cahills' kind of money. Not that James Cahill wants any of it. He's tried to make his own way, less interested in a future inheritance than in his construction company - and in enjoying the many women taken in by the easy charms of a handsome, soon-to-be-rich bad boy.

"Jackson juices things up with plenty of sexy suspense and a generous amount of high-octane thrills." --Booklist

Perhaps there've been too many women. Waking up in a small hospital in Washington State, bandaged and bruised, James barely recognizes the gorgeous blonde who comes to visit. Through the haze of pain and medication, he recalls that she is Sophia, the woman he's been cheating with. Gradually memories return - his girlfriend, Megan, had found out about Sophia. Now Megan is missing, her sister is hounding him - and police and reporters are asking questions. James insists he has no idea what happened. Yet he can't escape a feeling of dread....

"A good mystery that keeps readers guessing until the very end." --The Parkersburg News & Sentinel

Meanwhile, in a locked room, a woman waits, trapped, petrified, desperate. She thought she knew who to trust. But the betrayal you can't imagine - or can't remember - may be the most terrifying weapon of all....

Lisa Jackson loves incest.

Average book, I’ve definitely heard better from Ms. Jackson. Who lives to write about incest.

It’s hard to believe

That this book was written by the same author as the first two Cahills books. The plot is fine but the execution is so very bad. So many unnecessary repeats of the same phrases. Multiple explanations of the same plot points repeated over and over. This applies to major plot points as well as minor facts. After all, how many times do we need to be told that the Christmas tree is 14 feet tall?

Repeat, repeat

I have tried 2 different series by Lisa Jackson and that will be all that I try. The books repeat themselves. How many long lost relatives, given up for adoption, that want their portion of the money can 1 family have. Storyline starts out good but I already know what’s coming. I want suspense and surprise not repeat of the previous book. Done with Lisa Jackson.

difficult to listen

there are two narrators for this story, the mans voice is so flat and frayed, that it makes it hard to pay attention to the story. if you can stand to listen to monotone voice fray, youll like the story. its taken me 3 weeks to finish this story when it normally takes 2 days, because i cant get past his voice.

Lazy repetitive writing, zero creativity

This is the 4th Lisa Jackson book I’ve listened to (and my last) and must say the character and story is the same. Every book has a coma, amnesia, someone driving a Jeep, and the exact same metaphors. But, this book was THE WORST! There were chapters where entire passages were repeated from previous chapters. I thought I was having a deja vu. “Didn’t this event already get described?…why is the character retelling it? “. Also, this book spends significant prose describing what the character is thinking in their head or talking to themselves;especially their inner thoughts when presented with some fear. What’s most annoying is that all the characters use the SAME WORDS to express their inner thoughts….”my heart is pounding so hard I can feel it in my ears”. I never write reviews, but I could not let this poor attempt at selling a book that oozes simple laziness in its writing. Zero creativity. It’s almost as it this is a ghost writing attempt that skipped the editing.
