Publisher's summary

Narcissistic parents severely damage not only the child we were, but the adult we become. Learning to love yourself and trust others later in life can seem like an impossible task after a childhood of mental neglect and emotional torture, but I am here to tell you that it can be done.

Having been put through all of the extremely negative aspects of being raised by a narcissist, I have spent most of my adult life trying to come to terms with what was done to me and how I feel about it now.

Throughout this book, I will take you on a passage that you probably know well but have not quite figured out how to navigate. Using my own experiences, I will help you to come to terms with what ultimately happened - and may still be happening - to you, and I will show you how to move on and lead the happy and fulfilling life that you deserve.

Some of what we discuss will be tough, but with a conversational and friendly tone throughout, you can be sure that I will do everything I can to help you achieve your peace of mind and finally come to terms with how things were, and how they are now going to be.

More of a Cheerleading Session

The sample of this book seemed to be right on, but as I listened I was disappointed to hear the author continually telling the listener how "awesome" they are without really getting into the meat of the issue. While self esteem and not carrying the guilt that a narcissistic parent tries to push upon us are very important, it is equally essential not to just puff up the injured party. I found the writing to be immature, although I do not doubt the struggles she has had with her narcissistic father. The last thing that a victim needs is fake ego boosting. I was also discouraged that the author painted a black and white portrait of the narcissist versus the victim, which is seldom the case. What makes narcissists so dangerous is their ability to weave in just enough of the truth to make the loved one doubt themselves.
