There’s a wedding in the air at Auckland Med, but Reuben wonders if they’ll survive the stress long enough to say, "I do". Cam is directing the entire operation with his combat eyeliner in place, while the wedding party is doing its best to ignore him. The pressure is mounting and the cracks are beginning to show.
There’s a bachelor party to survive.
The paparazzi to outrun.
A wedding outfit to confirm.
A rugby game to win.
A jerk of a father to cope with.
A stunning opportunity to consider.
A relationship to untangle.
And a shocking event that could derail everything.
With the universe conspiring against them, Reuben and Cam will have to summon every scrap of belief they have in each other to make it to their vows.

First, this is not a standalone. If you haven’t read Cam and Reuben’s original story, you need to. This is their wedding book. Their engagement. Their planning. Their almost disasters. And yes, their wedding.
I love weddings. I love wedding planning. I love the emotional build up of two people choosing each other publicly. And that part? I genuinely enjoyed. The wedding felt very them. Personal. Loud. A little extra. Very Cam.
Now let’s talk about Cam.
He annoyed me.
He’s bossy. He takes over. He makes assumptions. He decides things without fully including Reuben and that frustrated me more than once. You are getting married. This is not a solo project.
But here’s the thing, I still love him.
I actually appreciate that he isn’t perfect. He has flaws. He spirals. He controls when he’s scared. And watching him have to confront that and grow from it mattered more to me than being irritated in the moment.
Reuben, on the other hand, really stepped into his strength here. He felt solid. Grounded. Like a man who knows who he is and what he wants. His growth from earlier books is obvious. I loved seeing him stand firm when it counted.
Their chemistry? Still excellent. They balance each other beautifully. Snarky, dramatic Cam and steady, strong Reuben just work.
This book feels like watching a soap opera about a wedding. Something dramatic is happening every five minutes. There are hospital scenes. Family issues. Outside pressures. Emotional spirals. It’s a lot.
Reuben’s father is still absolutely terrible and that storyline was hard to read at times. The homophobia. The threats. The tension. It’s heavy. But it also reinforces what these two are fighting against and why their happiness feels earned.
I loved Cory. I loved the found family. I loved seeing previous characters show up and support them. That sense of community is one of my favorite things about this series.
The humour is still sharp. The banter is still strong. The emotional scenes hit.
Now… I do have one complaint.
For a book centered around a wedding, we did not get much actual wedding. The ceremony moment stopped early and we didn’t get an on-page wedding night scene. I wanted that. I needed that. It felt like a strange choice to fade out there.
That’s honestly what kept this at four stars for me.
Overall, though? I was entertained. I was emotional. I rolled my eyes. I got frustrated. I teared up.
And I still closed the book happy.
4 solid stars
