A savage ritual threatens to set off a tide of violence throughout the Heracles Gulf....

Fresh off Tyunta and stripped of both Ardennes and his active status, Vandal must return to his home world and finish his jockey training before Colonel Swift secures a new contract. But when a new threat brews at the edge of the Heracles Gulf, Vandal faces being left behind if he can’t finish in time.

Deadly, secretive descendants of ancient Northmen raid isolated worlds. These savages, shot into space on the back of stolen technology, are committed to blooding their next generation of warriors. And the Chevaliers might be next in their cross hairs.

I am really enjoying the series so far, the alternate history angle is intriguing, and I like how the author is slowly dropping breadcrumbs for readers to pick up on as the world builds.
The protagonist continues to progress in a very logical manner, and he is a relatable and likable charter with a rich backstory who is complimented by a vibrant cast of others to support the story overall. One thing I also enjoyed was that the author includes moments of despair and death that show the true nature of life is sometimes not a happy ending but just an ending neither good nor bad.

As for the narration... I actually liked the author narrating more than Brad Derry. The authors passion came through more in the first book.

Please keep the series coming.

A strong continuation of the series

Was an enjoyable story. The biggest complaint is that there were a few sections where the audiobook would have previous sections spliced in. Like you would be listening to two characters interacting, then the audio would switch to combat that wasn't a flashback for a few seconds, then revert to the character interaction

A solid mech story

series is great on book 3 before I even thought to give the first two books a review and I'm loving them.
