Second Chance At First Love

I was very curious about Nick and Mia's story from book 2 in the series so I was thrilled that they were front and center in this book. This story moved me to almost tears -- I teared up but just didn't let them fall. This story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Both Nick and Mia seem to love each other deeply but don't know how to let go of past hurts enough to move on and share a life together. It was difficult listening to two people who wanted to, needed to be together but couldn't get out of their own heads to make it happen. It was nice to catch up with some of my favorite people from previous books in the series. I won't give up too much details about this story but I did like that we get first hand glimpses in their lives and their relationship from the beginning to what ended it all. These two have waited a very long time to get their second chamce.

Mia Gaskin was okay as a narrator, she did fine a Mia but she was marginal as Nick and the other males in the story. I wanted my tough FBI agent to have a deeper more masculine voice.

Absolutely worth the credit, just hope I don't have to wait another year for the next book in the series.

Not quite worth the wait

I've read all the books in this series. This story was my least favorite. I didn't like the narration. The female voice was too sugary. The male voices were difficult to distinguish so when multiple male characters were being read in a scene it was confusing trying to figure out which character was talking. The plot line- how can one character be so mature and so incredibly immature at the same time? And for an Agent- he doesn't trust his physician girlfriend ? Or realize counseling and therapy is needed ? It just was too unbelievable. I can't see it happening. I'll read further stories in this series because most were really good and strong. This one just didn't strike a chord with me but I'm still glad I read it

Skip This One

I had high hopes for this book because I enjoyed the first one in the series. Unfortunately this one was ...well I skipped from chapter 8 to 18 awful. The story was boring and the narrator horrible. Read it if you dare but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Mot worth the wait

I loved all the books in this series. But not this one. It's so depressing that I feel like I need counseling just listening to it. The romance started out promising enough but after the first few chapters there was nothing but regrets and second guessing and whining. None of the characters had any semblance of mental health. So bad I couldn't even finish.

I've been waiting to hear about these brothers!

I enjoyed getting my answers to the mystery. I loved the Mckinney Brothers series..is this the beginning of a new series??? This book was good. I love this author. I didn't listen to this book straight through as I've done with the series because I felt the need to take breaks from the repetition at times and the narrator took a little getting used to for me...I'm used to voices like Andi Arndt or Lidia Dornet. I felt like some things were said over and over but I still liked and would recommend this book.

This was the older brother to Hanna who took care of the family at the age of 19 when his parents died in a car accident. Mia was his girlfriend (and like a mom to the bunch of siblings) with her cooking, cleaning, caring and talks. After 13 years they broke up and came back together when little Hanna (2 when Mia met the family) was now grown and getting married. I had so many questions around this couple and I got all my answers. Now I want to know more about the second oldest who seem to have taken off when the oldest needed help raising the siblings.

Loved it!

I thought the first books were good but by far, this one is way better. I felt the pain of the characters. I can't wait to see what's next.

Too depressing for my tastes

I know it goes into the back story of the main characters but I was on the verge of tears more than smiling. I skipped about 8 chapters just to get to the end result of all the tears. I loved her first three books in the series and am hoping for good reading on the 5th book.
