Vivid journey through human civilization, and I honestly felt like I was living through each era. From ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, through empires like Rome, China, and the Mughals, to modern times — the narrative manages to stay clear and engaging the whole way.
What I loved most was how it doesn’t feel dry or like a list of dates. The storytelling is concise but full of life: you really connect with the turning points that shaped humanity. The narrator’s voice is warm and easy to listen to, which makes those long spans of history surprisingly digestible.

I haven’t listened to or even read a more complete yet accessible book than this one about the path our species has traveled to reach where we are today. This is a massive audiobook that’s worth every cent because it covers the fundamental parts of our history with a magnificent level of detail, all in an accessible tone for people like me who don’t really know history but love it anyway.

The content spans from ancient Mesopotamia, where some of the first agricultural systems were developed, to the Chinese Empire (only the essential events, since their full history could fill an entire library), the medieval world, the rise of monotheistic religions, the major world wars, and even a touch of modern times.

As if that weren’t enough (and it absolutely is), the author includes a full-color printable version of the paperback book, which feels like a heartwarming gesture of generosity. It features dozens, or even hundreds, of beautiful pictures to look at while listening to the audiobook. I love doing that, and I’m even thinking about printing it to read alongside my PC, or maybe buying the paperback version, which would of course be higher quality.

Thanks for such an amazing book!
