Publisher's summary

It's amazing to be a dominant wolf...if you're male.

When you're a 19-year-old girl who can beat the crap out of every wolf in your pack, suddenly it's not so great. Love isn't everything, I know; but even the most powerful she-wolf submits to her mate. If you can't be dominated, you can't be mated. And an unmated wolf has no place in the pack.

My one hope is the clan gathering in the Blackwood Fortress. Every wolf in the continent attends, and a few seriously sexy wolves catch my eye. I'm bound to find at least one who can match me, right?

Then there's my other problem: My alpha is a grade-A jerk. After treating me like a genetic freak my whole life, he suddenly decides to stake a claim.

But I can't refuse the challenge, and my wolf won't back down. Either I submit to the alpha and become mated to his skeezy pelt, or I win the challenge and my freedom...by taking his place as alpha.

Only no one has ever heard of a female alpha, and if I become one, I'll never find a mate.

Contains mature themes.

A bit torn

I liked the plot. It was a really unique way of portraying the supernatural. I LOVE Aaron Shedlock. He always makes the male characters seem soooooo heart throb. However, the female narrator was fine using her female voice, but her male voices were so weird and I really felt they ruined the picture the author was trying to draw. I also like a bit more steam, lol, so not quite my style, but all in all pretty good.

Different but I’m intrigued

First off Caitlin Davies is wonderful and I love all her narration work!! Aaron is new to me but does wonderful as well and I love the sound of his voice!

Second; I am an insane paranormal snob - I am extremely picky about the books I read and I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this version of a wolf-shifter story. Not as spicy and I was lead to believe but that’s ok, I am thoroughly enjoying this and can’t wait to see what comes next. And not only is this paranormal but it’s got some dystopian vibes to it as well.

Yessss

WOW! This book was so so much better than I thought it was going to be! I was hooked from page 1! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these characters! Sooo much was set up in this book I’m very excited to keep reading! The audiobook was very well done as well!! The narrators had a wide range of accents for all the characters which was very enjoyable!

Women can be powerful too

Really enjoyed he story line. This was the first book that jad a strong female lead. A female with the respect of everyone and feared as well. Finding herself in an unprecedented position leaves you wanting more.

Finished, but didn’t enjoy it

I kept trying to like this book. There’s one relationship in here that was good, but the narrators were so robotic, I couldn’t ever get into the book to enjoy it.

Odd spice but unique story

This book has only kissing and normal shifted nudity labeled as spice. Near the very end Emory hinted that something had happened either it was glossed over/ faded to black or it never happened. Especially since MFC said they still hadn’t broken rules.

That said I liked the idea of how shifters and variance vampires were brought out about. Also liked that the author mentioned in enough detail how things went down without just leaving it for never.

Male narrator was okay for some voices well spoken and gave faces to his voiced characters. Female narrator came off sounding like she was voicing for historical books. And the elder and MFC sounded the same which visually stunted scenes.
