Messenger, magic wielder, and knight Karigan G'ladheon fights to save king and country from dark magic and a looming war in this seventh novel of the New York Times bestselling Green Rider series

After her capture at the hands of Grandmother and the Second Empire, Karigan G'ladheon is making halting progress towards recovery. Karigan takes on increasingly dangerous missions, haunted by the specter of her torturer, Nyssa, and sinking ever further into the mire of her recollections of the past and the losses she's sustained.

Meanwhile, the forces of the Second Empire are moving on Sacoridia and their primary target is a vulnerable garrison that guards a crucial mountain pass. Faced with new fatherhood and a country on the verge of war, King Zachary sends a contingent of soldiers and Green Riders to the pass—but his own recovery from the events of the north is not yet complete either.

Reunited with her fellow Riders at the pass, Karigan takes on a leadership role, but quickly finds that the Riders are not as she last left them. As tension mounts and war draws ever closer to the heart of Sacoridia, Karigan must discover what it truly means to be a Rider and a hero of the realm—and what sacrifices must be made to truly heal from her past.

I love this series and although I have seen the frustration over Karagan’s disbelief In herself sometimes . I have to say that the author truly seems to understand PTSD. I will admit parts are hard and frustrating as you want to tell her you are you you got this. In truth when suffering the things she has it is sadly easier to fall into a deep self doubt.
I usually prefer to not read about people suffering from PTSD as Ii hits close to home.. but this was a great book. And the way she expels it I think is a great healing metaphor.
I do t want to spoil it for anyone.
I love the addition of Anna!!
As always I am ready for the next book!!!

Another outstanding story in the continuing Green Rider saga and Karigan G'ladheon’s adventures across Sacoridia. The relationship between Karigan and King Zachary continues to develop while war with Second Empire begins and other conflicts are unleashed. The story ends on a cliffhanger. My caveat to new reader/listeners of Kristen Britain, is that she must be the modern world’s slowest published author. Count on your listening devise, ebook reader, or actual book gathering dust before the next book is published!

Another fine story by Kristen with one caveat!

this is DO NOT MISS type of book. the story continues to evolve and expand as it goes on. It seems straightforward in the first couple of books but as you delve further into the expanse... similar to a riding trail you come upon unexpected turns, hills, and joyfully challenging portions of the journey. Do not pass on this series. You will regret missing out on this adventure.

EPIC storyline from book 1 and on!

I have loved this series since the first book came out, oh, twenty years ago. This one is my favorite yet! The author is a master at balancing character development, action, and world building, and you can tell she pours heart and soul into her work. Waiting on pins and needles for the final book in this story arc!

this book was considerably better than the previous ones, it felt like it got back on track and it was more about the adventures, and it seemed like the love story was better. there was finally some loose ends wrapping up and they have nice setup for the final war which I suspect will be the final book

back on track

I love this authors work and her ability to really draw the characters and world to life with her words. I find myself lost in her books completely in her thrall because the characters and the events unfolding are so consuming. Now anyone that has been reading her books know that this story has been over twenty years of the author putting her all into these books.. and truthfully I’m not the most patient person but these books are so good I find myself thinking about them all the time and waiting for more. I love Karigan and her character arc and that she continues to grow and doesn’t get boring or annoying and everything she feels is real in the sense that in her position I can see it actually happening that way. The other characters in the world carry such an impact to the overall storyline and it’s impressive. I will continue to wait for this series and enjoy and partake in Karigan’s adventures.

Amazing writing and great characters!

As a budding author myself, I admire so much of what Kristin Britain brings to the table. Her storytelling capability is simply wonderful. I love the expansion of world-building that was introduced over the last two books, and that it didn't at all feel shoe-horned into the story, or like a last ditch effort to make things make sense. I write pages upon pages singing praises of this book and the author, but I'll keep it short :)

⚠️SPOILER⚠️ (karigan and zachary)

I wholeheartedly appreciate the realistic nature of the relationship between Karigan and Zachary. I had been wondering how the author was going to get them together with Estora and the children in the picture and I can't express my elation enough at the fact she didn't simply kill them off or some such other "lazy" writing tactic. The interactions and dynamics between all involved have remained so realistic, immersive, and authentic to character personalities throughout the series. This is not, in my experience, an easy thing to accomplish, and I aspire to be so skillful in my own writing.

i could go on about her realistic depiction of trauma and ptsd, and as someone who is similarly haunted by past experiences, this book made me feel seen. It made me feel understood.

I cannot *wait* for the continuation of this series. I hope with every ounce of my being that Kristin Britain receives the recognition she deserves for her incredible skill, story, and characters.

Thank you Kristin!!

Arguably the best book in the series! A MUST read.
