A Chance to Start Over....

Waking up after experiencing an erotic dream of the time you and your lover had sex in a moving wagon can be disorienting. Waking up after experiencing an erotic dream of the time you and your lover had sex in a moving wagon, only to find a naked Lamia snuggling with you, is downright shocking.

Eryk has a new roommate. Her name is Lin. She is a Lamia from the Endless Desert, refers to herself as “this princess”, and has proclaimed that Eryk is her husband. He doesn’t know what she’s on about, but he’s not about to let himself get caught up in her shenanigans. He has other problems to deal with right now.

The gauntlet has been thrown; Eryk has challenged Grant Leucht to compete with him in the annual Spiritualist Grand Tournament, but Grant has decided to make sure Eryk doesn't live long enough to even participate.

could be better

Narration is 5 stars. Only real problem with this series is the going back and forth from present to past. Half the book is is past life and it is jarring. It just useless filler that doesn't matter and bc of that the progress of the main story feels way to slow.

Pretty good overall, don't like the flashbacks

If you like manga light novels and harem lit, you probably want to give this a shot.
I read all 3 novels in this series back to back and as a whole they feel like a full story, individually they are fun to read, but I probably would have forgotten about this series a few days from now if I'd only been able to read the first book. Brandon totally owns up to this in his forward and It does get better as the books progress! I'm kinda hoping that 4,5&6 are coming out soon.
The only thing that really keeps these from 5 stars is that the "hook", the list of things he's supposed to be focused on are years away and in 3 books we've only moved ahead two months. If the next 20 something books were out to get to his first real goal, I'd happily read them all. As it stands the author has many other series it seems and I hesitate to get invested do to worry about burnout.

Massive amounts of useless filler

After I skipped all the flashbacks and sex scenes there was like 2-3 hours at most.

Then there was the slow burn of keeping things dramatic. The obvious fact that he'll get together with both of them is so annoying to watch.

The fact the MC can't see the obvious conspiracy to weaken the city is annoying.

He's supposed to be really old, but acts like a horny teenager. What the hell kinda loser needs to go jerk one off because he saw some boobs?

I never understood that depiction of men. All you gotta do is not think about it for a few minutes. Easy.

Whatever, if that weren't enough we have this stupid lamia freeloader. I would have liked it much better if he just had a Snake companion instead of everything and they're mother wanting to bone him. In this case literally since I'm a 80% certain she's Medusa's kid. from the short amount of flashbacks I was able to stomach, that's my guess at least.

The only reason I bought this is because I literally didn't have anything else, and needed a few hours of filler while driving.

For the love of God either stop the flashbacks, or put them in thier own chapters so they are ready to skip.

Starting a new chapter, seeing it's 45m long, shipping the flash back and seeing I only have 10m left is anger inducing.

going downhill

why are we having flashback dreams? do we need more backstory? maybe just excuse for intimate scenes. considering he has already changed the past he knew, the dreams are just filler.
other than pronunciation of libarry the narration is great. I think the story could be fantastic but the slow roll is hard to deal with. 2 months of time with 3 books and the author puts out 1 book a year. maybe I will finish the series 10 years from now and ff the dreams.

Excellent book!

This book is laying excellent groundwork for this great story, just like the last two books. This story is slowly building and introducing all the key characters. We finally get to see the third woman in his new life.

Best Book so Far - Great Fights and Training

The MC is getting stronger as his t÷raining progresses. I don't want to leave spoilers but there is an epic duel this book. The MC is finally starting to shock everyone with his prowess.

Why is it taking so long to get these?

It's like the author doesn't want to sell anymore. I keep waiting for new books but I only buy the audio version because I listen to them at work. I do get a little time to read text copies but he pulled this line from the Kindle rental list which is what I use to see which audio books I want to buy It's like the author is trying to stop me from buying his books. Great series and love the voice actors I'm just pissed that I can't get more of it.

Stop with the Glimpses of the past!!!!

Good story all around. But very soft on action. Author stop with the Glimpse to the past. They take to much time and are really really unnecessary. Action and power ups are what we care about !! 1 full action sequence out of 3 books !! FYI the glimpses to the past scenes don’t count !

That was a nice surprise.

It's just as Amazing as the first two. The slithering suprise was really nice and we finally got to see his strength. Just amazingly done. You get happy, you get sad, you get excited and tears don't stop falling.

The Narrative is also just amazing. Jessica and Christopher does a fantastic job as always.

I really can't wait for the next one.

Story is cool, flashback sucks

This story has been interesting, granted not much has actually happened since he reincarnated/time warped back. But it has been fun to listen to.

My only issue is with the whole flash back to when he first lived through all those events, it just takes away from the current development and in all honesty isn’t even needed to further the story. I’d say perhaps when something crops up to warrant a flash back do one to explain why he has a certain feeling or emotion toward something, rather than just have one at the start or end of a chapter

All in all I’d say 4/5 for this series I don’t like the fixation on Kari but to each their own
