Publisher's Summary

He never wanted to be anyone’s hero....

Some would call me irrevocably broken. I submerge myself in long work hours by day and debauchery at The Wicked Horse by night, using those things to numb the pain and guilt I feel over the death of my wife. What isn’t satisfied by one will surely be resolved by the other. At least that’s how I’ve survived the last few years.

But things change when Hannah Madigan shows up at my door, the newest employee sent by the company that cleans my apartment. Beat down by life, not to mention a cheating husband who was unfairly awarded custody of their daughter, Hannah is determined to make a better life for herself and get her kid back, even if it means working three jobs to do so. One costly mistake puts Hannah in my debt, and I’m not about to let the chance to have this dark-haired beauty pass me by.

She’s given a golden opportunity....

Determined to stay the course by any means necessary, Hannah accepts my less than professional offer. I’ll give her a job. She’ll give me her body. Sounds easy, right? Until the scales tip and I find myself needing her in ways I’m not ready to admit. Until I find that saving someone else may just mean allowing myself to be saved in return.

Backstory for FPOV was bit far fetched- but good overall

I found myself rolling my eyes a tad when Hannah story was slowly unfolded. It sounded a bit like a old country song, “I was broke the day my mom got out of prison...”. LOL. She’s broke, trying to make ends meet and gives her brother money for a DWI?!? It wasn’t even necessary to the story and had me regretting my purchase. But alas, it got better. I loved how Asher kept slowly giving in to the change Hannah was having in his life.
In the end, I’m here for the happily ever after, so I gave this all the stars.

Asher Knight is a force!

Wow! Asher Knight is a super alpha w/a heart he never knew he had. When he has a chance encounter w/Hannah, there’s a immediate attraction. And Asher, being the cunning, ruthless CEO that he is, he finds a way to get closer to her.

Hannah, a divorced mom, is struggling to stay afloat and take care of her daughter. When she sees Asher for the first time, there’s definitely an attraction, but she’s focused on her daughter. When Asher makes her an offer that could help w/her current financial woes, she declines, but later agrees to a night at the Wicked Horse w/Asher.

What was planned to be one night, continues, and Asher and Hannah find they have a possibly deeper connection. Neither is ready for that, but sometimes fate has other plans. I really enjoyed this hot as hell tale the Wicked Horse series is known for. I really loved Asher’s sister, and his father was a complicated man, he was very interesting.

As with the entire Wicked series, Lance and Kirsten do a wonderful job bringing the characters in this series to life.

Vanilla rice pudding

Good book but not great. The whole thing was nice but it didn't excite me. Normally the wicked horse books are full of naughtiness and intrigue but I found this to be lacking any substance. The romance scenes were mentioned but there was no detail. Everything was too perfect. The narrators always do a fantastic job, it's just a shame the story line was a bit ho-hum. I really enjoy all the other books by Sawyer Bennett and I will definitely keep reading her books.
