Publisher's Summary

Nowhere is safe when the gods are wicked.

Since the beginning of times, there has always been two sides: Norms and Idols. But never have the scales been so unbalanced as they are today.

I'm a Norm, which means I grew up in fear of the Idols and their godly powers. And now, I'm going to be surrounded by them, day and night. I've been offered a place at the prestigious Gifted Academy, an opportunity very few Norms get.

To survive, I must become invisible. But my hope to get through the academy unscathed goes down the drain when the most powerful boys in school set their eyes on me.

They hate me simply because I'm a Norm. If they knew who I truly am, they'd tear me apart limb by limb. But I'm done cowering away from Idols. It's time for the Norms to fight back, and it all starts with me.

Contains mature themes.

Terrible

I don't think this author understands how to write an ending. You have to wrap up at least this books open ended plot lines before writing in a suspenseful cliffhanger that sojourns into the continuation of the story in the next book. This just felt like I was cheated out of a story I paid for. Besides that, the dialogue was simple and boring. The story has a decent premise that will keep you interested enough to keep going. But there's really not very much angst happening between the main characters...you kinda just end up hating them all.
Their pull to each other doesn't make sense. As far as the narration goes...both actors had lackluster performances that didn't carry the right inflection. I also found the man's accent to be very "valley" and borderline obnoxious. There was no distinguishing between any of the Male leads in tone so you get confused about who is even speaking. Not moving forward in the series.

Male narrator ruined this for me :(

I tried sooooo hard to finish this series but the male narrator just ruined it for me. the female was good. He sounded like a pothead the entire time and I couldn't tell when he switched between male leads at all. I am sure that is challenging but when they have a conversation in the book I had no idea who was talking. The story was pretty good but even when I tried to switch to kindle I heard the voice in my head and it kind of ruined it for me. I hate leaving anything but amazing reviews but felt it should be shared. If you are considering this book, just read it.

Worst male narrator on Audible

Please look up the video, "BurgerKing Foot Lettuce" and you will understand how absolutely awful this narrator is. I'm hoping he doesn't get paid for such a god awful preformance.

Male narrator completely f$&@‘d. this up!!

I wanted to like this book. I really tried but the male narrator butchered this and I could not finish this. In the beginning of the story I thought it had potential but it quickly turned into a a horribly narrated harem/bullying type of book and not a very good one.

Great Book

I love the book and it was very interesting but the male narrator was a little bland and not was I would expect for the boys but the narrator for Daisy was perfect.

I can’t with the male narrator!

I can’t even finish this audible , the story is good , but the male Narrator sounds like he’s doing a 90s impersonation of a high surfer dude it’s awful. I think this is a good author but he has ruined it for me if I could return it I would.

Good start

This was a good introduction to this new world! the characters are interesting and make you want to know more of their backstory, especially the idols. The world in general has me wanting more and I'm excited to dive into the next one to see where this is going to go!

The audiobook is well done. I wasn't the biggest fan of Alex Kydd's take on the female voice- it came off sounding almost condescending- but that's just my personal opinion. Overall they both did a wonderful job on bringing this story to life.

male narrator... eh

The female narrator was fantastic, the male narrator was awful. He made each male character sound whiny and idiotic. I'm really hoping he's better in the second book, because I really want to continue this series, however it took a lot of patience getting through the book when one of the guys point of views came on. I may have to just switch to reading this series instead of listening.

Great story, but is it worth it?

the story line is good so far, but the Male voice makes me want to dig out my ear drums! Madeline Dauer did a really good job distinguishing characters. All-n-all, had his voice been in the preview, I'd never had bought it. Listen at ur own risk!

Read the book

the story itself was great however the male narrator did not do this story justice and in parts was just cringe worthy. the female narrator was amazing and kind of made up for any failings.

GREAT READ

This is an awesome book. I loved it! I will be looking forward to reading the next book or, in my case, listening to it as I listened to the audiobook version of this book. The romance in this book is actually really cute to watch as the boys begin to feel things they never have before, and Daisy has to learn to trust those around her that aren't norms. This is definitely a book I don't regret reading and would definitely recommend to those who like this genre. I loved this book!

Had to stop listening

Plot is too cringe to finish. The narrators did reasonably well considering the material but I just couldn't push past the writing

LOVE

I absolutely loved this book beautifully written and the female narrator was superb. STRONG female lead 10/ 10. the male narrator didn't do great it he preformed all the male characters the same making it easy to confuse who was speaking and when he imitated the female character it was truly awful. if u can get past that the book is still by far one of my favourites found included in membership. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Male narrator lost me

The story is a great read, the female narrator is fantastic to listen to. The Male narrator sounds like he's doing a caricature of what a younger guy sounds like. It's as if he's a 40yr old mocking a teen's voice and it's pretty distracting.

***A brilliant bully romance***

Wow being a norm is dangerous around powerful idols and fringes, norm usually cower in the presents of power idols but not Daisy she is a norm and do not fear them. This is a unique and refreshing spin on this story. Fast paced and have lots of angst and dramas. It took me a few chapters to get used to Alex Kydd's voice but I loved it in the end Madeleine Dauer is brilliant as Daisy and not so bad as the boys either.
