Publisher's Summary

In the blink of an eye, Mom ran up behind me and pushed me into the fence. Instinctively, I reached out my arms to stop my fall and ended up grabbing the live fence. My hands clamped around the thin wires, and my body collapsed to the ground as the electricity coursed through it. I opened my eyes and saw my mother standing over me with the strangest smile on her face. "Oh, my God, I’m going to die!" I thought in panic.

Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother’s arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?"

The answer is my book, "Why Me?" It is my childhood journey through the terrors of physical and mental abuse from first grade until the day I moved out. It is my way of letting the world know what was really going on behind closed doors.

Unsatisfactory Ending

This book is frustrating. It will leave you furious with the mother because there is no real ending. It leaves you wanting to find this woman and hand out justice on behalf of this little kid. The fact this woman was allowed to live out her life without some sort of punishment is outright disgusting!!

I found this story too depressing

I know some people live like this, some children are abused like this but I had to quit because the language was too foul for my taste.

Why Me?

I give this book all 5 stars but somehow it doesn’t feel right to give such a horrible story of your childhood! I did enjoy hearing your story and especially how you took charge and never ad anything else to do with your HORRIBLE Mother. I would like to know why on earth she hated you so much. But you probably don’t know either. Hope you have a wonderful beautiful life with your family!

Just wow

So many thoughts and feelings. How can a mother be so cruel. This is the first book to make me cry.

very abusive and cruelty to a child

this book is a harsh reminder that child abuse does exist. I'm just glad that the author went on to live a successful life because so many children who are as traumatized as she was generally don't pick up the pieces as well as she does

Exploding reality

I liked her honesty, not pity, her experiences she went through and how she changed the perceived outcome of her future by her determination and will power. Highly recommend this book to those who grew up or in an abused home to help cope or get help.

Wonderfully Written

Coming from a difficult childhood myself, I really appreciated how you acknowledged that hope that one day things would be better. I was also an adult with a child when I finally severed all ties with my mother. Again, thank you so much for this.
