I usually struggle to find business books that offer real depth; too many rely on anecdotes without much substance. Why Managers Matter is a rare exception. It’s both highly informative and genuinely enjoyable to listen to.
As someone who teaches Organization Theory, I found it especially relevant and thought-provoking. The book makes a rigorous, well-argued case for the continuing importance of hierarchy, not just for efficiency, but also for innovation.
What I appreciated most was how the authors combined precise conceptual framing with accessible real-world examples. It’s rigorous yet never dry, making it valuable for academics, students, and practitioners alike. Easily one of the best business books I’ve come across in recent years.
