Publisher's Summary

Why Don't You Want My Stuff? is a boomer’s guide to downsizing, their millennial kid's psyche, and just things that are so.

An easy-to-understand (maybe, even fun) guide through the secondary market of online retailing, auctions, and estate sales. Gather consignment insight, trend forecasting (from Pokemon to music boxes), appraisal techniques, and buying tips from CEO and auctioneer Josh Levine's almost 20 years of experience in the auction world.

Collectors - pick at the brain of an experienced appraiser and auctioneer. Uncover Levine’s projected market trends on a variety of pieces, compare war stories, and gain tips on online retailing.

Boomers - stop asking your kids why they don't want your stuff!  Levine will reveal some of the psychology behind their disinterest and even resentment of your items. From China to furniture, the gen-Xers and millennials just don’t view your treasures like you do. Gain an understanding of the supply and demand of the market and the cyclical trend that is style, purchase behavior, and ultimately life.

Gen-Xers - Are you caught between a rock and a hard place? Don’t worry, we’ll break the news to your parents about their collection of China and the like. As for you, we'll explain the trouble of trying to sell all of your parent's and relative's items that you don't want and where to go from there (hint: Think of all the people who also don't want their parent's stuff).

Millennials - Yup, there’s even some knowledge for you in here. You escaped inheriting some beanie babies and VHS tapes from your parents, so what do you do with all of that space? First off, pass on the minimalist trend. Then, think about the possibilities.

You know how bell bottoms are back in? Soon, so will these trinkets, furniture styles, and fad pieces like Pokemon. Get ahead of your peers and start collecting now. Levine will shed some light on what's hot and what's not.

From any perspective, you will finish with an understanding of the generational disconnect.

value !!!

Overly useful, yet not in an exhausting way. Data about gathering, who's purchasing, selling through yard deals versus on the web and that's only the tip of the iceberg. Kept me engaged and snickering the entire time. Accommodating on the off chance that you have a relative who is attempting to scale back and experiencing difficulty choosing what to keep and let go of or they're gifting you their possessions that you don't need.

Very interesting book!

Don’t get rid of your stuff without reading (or hearing) this book first!
I wanted to read this book because, at age 66, I’m trying to “pare down” my possessions, but, just like the title says, my kids don’t want my stuff! It made me feel angry and sad and it made them feel frustrated and guilty. And none of us knew why.
Enter this short and sweet book!
Now I understand the psychology of why I wanted stuff in the first place and why they don’t. But even better, now I have a concrete idea of what I can actually do with everything.
You see, I love my stuff, George Carlin be damned. And I want the next person who owns it to be someone who’ll love it, too. But just because it’s not my kids, doesn’t mean there’s not anyone!
This book is stuffed with great information doled out in do-able segments with lots of humor and, I think, a little love.
My only complaint is that the author didn’t touch on books, especially first editions and autographed books, which are my weakness - although that may just be on deck waiting for his next book!
All in all, a great read, and just the right length.

Josh's Book is Right on

Loved this well narrated audio book. Josh is an expert at his craft sharing some true nuggets and explaining the various forms of estate liquidation. Can you imagine your chagrin seeing an item you sold for $5.00 at a garage sale on Antiques Road Show?

A very informative and enjoyable listen.

great and simple

I enjoyed this audio book very much. I have a hard time concentrating due to my mental health issues and meds keep me sleepy. I tell you this to say, this is the first audiobook I’ve hear in years. Josh Levine's honesty and being real helped me to realize that with everyone having their own issues, being able to make fun of yourself is a great way to get through anything. I thought I was the only one that tried to hide behind a good joke or funny disaster!

This audiobook was so inspiring.

Great, rousing, hilarious audiobook without losing the feeling of the real world and difficulties of living with a dynamic muscle-squandering condition. I chuckled. I associated. I was roused. As somebody with extreme inabilities and affection forever, I share his way to deal with life and disposition. He is completely subject to other people, yet he finds the cleverness in the repulsion of living with the frightfulness of his difficulties. It's everything about demeanor. He utilizes it to do mind-blowing things with his life and affect the lives of millions. He will not be characterized by it and doesn't feel sorry for himself.

Compelling

Full of useful psychological information: what advertising tactics take advantage of our natural cognitive shortcuts and even how to combat these methods. Simplified, well-organized, and engaging, all built through an interesting concept.

This Audible is a must have!!

Helped me understand that since I have an inability doesn't mean life can't be astonishing. His audio-book is straightforward and pitiful now and again. Made me chuckle on numerous occasions. The frankness and honesty of his life really sold this book to me.

Very informative!

I delighted in this audiobook recording definitely. I make some hard memories focusing because of my psychological well-being issues and drugs keep me sluggish. I disclose to you this to state, this is the first book I've hear in quite a while. Josh Levine's genuineness and being genuine helped me to understand that with everybody having their own issues, having the option to ridicule yourself is an extraordinary method to get past anything. I thought I was the one in particular that attempted to take cover behind a decent joke or entertaining debacle!
