Publisher's Summary

Welcome back to Virgin River with the books that inspired the hit Netflix series....

Virgin River became a safe haven for Sacramento prosecutor Brie Sheridan after she nearly lost her life at the hands of a violent criminal. Though tough and courageous, she has some fears she can't escape.

LAPD officer Mike Valenzuela was badly wounded in the line of duty. When he agrees to become Virgin River's first cop, he does so knowing it's time he settled down. Twice divorced and the lover of too many women, he secretly longs for the kind of commitment and happiness his marine buddies have found - a woman who can tie up his heart forever.

Mike will do anything to help Brie free herself from painful memories. Passionate, strong and gentle, he vows to give back to her what she's so selflessly given him - her heart, and with it, a new beginning.

Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Great book, but . . .

Great story. Held my constant interest. Very entertaining, but very offensive in the negative use of God’s name. Taking God’s name in vain on every page or any page ruined the book for me. Please write more novels but leave God, Christ, Jesus out of it. HIS name is reverent and worthy to be praised.

Great except for the use and over use of GD .

I love this series. I have enjoyed the 3 books I've listen to so far. My only complaint with this book is the use of the Lord's name in vain and the over use of it. I am sure any other word could have been used instead of GD. This is just my opinion, others may not feel this way and it's to each his own.

good book

the only thing about this book that was troubling to me, was the cursing. I am a military wife and mother. I understand how military men are. however, since the pandemic I have come to know my faith as a stronger part of my life and would enjoy not hearing God's name used in vain.

It has grew on me

I didn’t know if I liked the series or not. My wife convinced me to watch the Netflix show and I admittedly compared it. At first I liked the show better but now I am loving the books.

Good but rinse and repeat

I listen to all of Robyn Carr's books and genuinely enjoy them. That said, each of the books is basically the same. Man or woman (or both) in distress. They meet and fall in love instantly. They either have sex one time and either get pregnant or decide WTH, let's throw caution to the wind and make a baby (in which case it happens the next time). I'm typically able to listen to 2-3 books in a Robyn Carr series before I need to listen to something else for a while bc I start rolling my eyes at the formula. This was my third consecutive listen so I'm in that "need a break" space. But give it enough time and when you come back to listen again they're wonderful again!

Great!

I love both the books and the narrative. I listen while at work. I'm a window washer and I'm not even there. I'm in Virgin River.

Virgin River 3 books

I preferred the TV version. I’m hoping for the 4th season. I felt the reader could have been much better. Every character had the same tone and inflections. She would read some thing and then read “he said emotionally. Her voice was anything but. But I know there were listeners who liked her. So it goes. I listened to all 3 books just to see how the author saw it happening.
