This Story Is Seductive

Publisher's Summary

My name is Charlotte, and I have a special gift: I talk to the dead. Make no mistake, I can't summon them. I'm able only to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they're unable to cross over. They're somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I've relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls.

But it's come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I've begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I've realized I haven't allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and, most importantly, no hope, I've decided there is only one option - to end it all.

Fate is a funny thing, though. One minute I'm about to leap to my death, and the next I'm saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He's the kind of man who smiles and brightens an entire room. Sweet and gentle, he's my savior - and he's dead.

A POWERFUL BEAUTIFUL PNR THAT SHOULDN'T BE MISSED

Well way to go Ms Toler.... because you've officially broken my heart and stamped all over it with this poignant, tragic, heartbreaking, funny and heartwarming love story. And, as I type this review, the tears are still running down my face, I'm surrounded by tissues, my throat is painful from trying to hold back my emotions and my heart is torn into shreds. Oh, I knew the pain was coming but never did I think that it was possible to write such achingly beautiful and very touching scenes as the ones I've just listened to.... and am now trying to recover from (but it might take me a while).

Charlotte (Char) sees the dead who are caught in limbo not quite ready to move on because they have unfinished business here on this plain. Char was given this ability after a tragic accident cruelly robbed her of her Brother and left her broken and in a coma. She's been struggling and travelling around for five years after her disbelieving parents gave her money and kicked her out - but now, lonely, cold and broken, she's finally hit rock bottom and wants to end it all.... and that's when Ike comes into her life.

Sniff, sniff.... sorry but I'm reliving the story.... oh get a grip girl.... ok ok it's been 5 minutes and I've pulled myself together (for now) and can see the screen again. Ike is dead but he's shocked and happy that he can be seen and talk to someone after so long and he wants to save this beautiful broken stranger too. He also needs her help to save his brother George who is in a bad place both physically and mentally to hide his pain - so they make a bargain that will eventually lead Char to happiness.... but it'll be through angst, drama and a whole heap of heartbreak too. Because not everyone in the sleepy little town is pleased to see her, not everyone takes pity on her and not everyone gives her a helping hand.... but thankfully most of them take her under their wings unaware that she's accompanied by Ike..... their friend, their brother or their son.

As you can see this listen really moved me - it was hauntingly beautiful and yet devastating too as Char slowly gets closer to both brothers and their family and friends - always aware that she's withholding the truth from the living but she's just waiting for the 'right time' to tell. But Char's also heartbreakingly aware of her impending dilemma.... that if she fixes George she will lose Ike forever. That's sad enough.... but it's how it's written, the gut wrenching words that make such emotional scenes that this talented Author has brought about and the way you can't help but be totally charmed by all the characters concerned - especially Ike, that really gets to you as you reach the inevitable. There's angst and some drama, the chemistry is palpable leading to soul-deep romance with no sex and it's humorous as well as being 'tear your heart out' painful. Mainly dual POV's (Ike and Char's) and then finally a few Chapters from George's POV and the narration was good. Standalone and no cliffhanger.

Worth a credit? One million YES'.... and worth the tears, puffy eyes and being laughed at too.

Beautiful Story

I really loved this story and thought it was beautiful. It certainly had its sad parts as well - but they were beautifully written. I haven't enjoyed a love story this much in a long time.

Awesome

I usually don't write reviews but this book was beautiful and the narrator's did a wonderful job. Listening to the book brought on so many emotions, I laughed, cried, and even got angry with some of the characters in the book.
This was my first book from this author and I can honestly say I look forward to reading other books written by the author.

The narrator's really brought the book to life, I could visualize the whole story as if I was there too.

This book is so good that my husband asked me what was the book's title, I asked why and he said he was listening to the book when he woke up too early and couldn't go back to sleep. He said he wanted to hear the whole book because it got his attention, he said it was so good that he didn't even try to go back to sleep. I was shocked because he doesn't care for audio books.

please don't pass this book up, it's a must read type of book.

Thanks to the author for writing such a great book and to the narrator's for doing an awesome job bringing the character's to life.

Heartwarming

That was low key beautiful. I was a little skeptical at first but, people who talked to ghost has been done quite a bit. But I liked the way this one came together.

Amazingly beautiful.

I know we're supposed to think that romance books aren't real. That what they have can't happenin real life. How the stories they tell aren't practical, realistic and foolish to imagine they could be.
This story however, was utterly beautiful, poinient, heart breaking, and one of the few stories that has made me think about my place in life in relation to everything else in the universe. Weird as that may sound.

Charlotte finds herself in a pretty dark place in her life. She spends her life in the last 6 years doing much for others and finally finds herself at a crossroads; a dark one with seemingly no place to go but down.

Ike shows up at just the right time. He changes her world and is own. Yes, he's dead, but he's very much alive in so many other ways, important ways.

I was afraid that the author was going to write a story about two individuals, one dead that can never be together, and she loses him and the story ends there somehow. But it doesn't. She is given so much more, and strange as it sounds, Ike is given so much as well.

This story struck me really deeply. The timing of this couldn't havev been better.

The way Ike loves Charlotte reminds me that every woman doesn't have to settle for less. That every woman is beautiful, amazing, stunning, and deserves to be seen as such, inside and out. Every woman, me included, deserves to be treated like she is all of those things plus important, needed, wanted, special. Every woman deserves to be truly loved. Every woman deserves to feel like she is the most important one, the only one that makes a man rejoyce. Most important of all, every woman deserves to be treated like every day a man is with her might be the last.

A touching and slightly emotional journey

4.5 stars. I loved most of this book. It was really touching and a bit of an emotional journey. It was quite lovely. I really disliked the epilogue though. It somewhat cheapened both the story and Char's gift.

Where One Goes was sweet, heartbreaking, and heartwarming. I loved Ike, George, the Mercers, even Sniper. That little town had a lot of really great people. I was very invested in this story, as well as the various characters. I read/listened to this book straight through in one day. I didn't want to put it down.

Audible:The narrators did a good job. It was a really easy book to listen to.

Tissues Required

I fell in love with all the main characters in this book. But I did cry. I always knew who was talking (good narrators.) I really wish there was a second book. How did Sniper end up in this small town? How did Cam fare in college? Do Char's parents ever believe in her gift? The book stayed with me after finishing. Listen to it. Read it. Loved it.

I loved this story. Everything was balanced so perfectly. Not a single complaint. Loved the little bit of mystery added to the romance and the wonderful storyline. Will be an all time favorite.

This book is really good but I must admit it made me cry which is a sign of a good author in my opinion that can get you to connect with her characters

Beautiful

what an absolutely wonderful story. Not my usual genre but I'm so glad I chose this. The story is so well written and I just loved all the characters. The narration was brilliant from both. Highly recommended
