Brings back memories

Not only did this collection bring back memories, but Rick Bragg’s wonderful southern drawl gave me pictures of many in my life who also brought smiles to my face and life. I buy Southern Living for his article tucked in the back. The other “stuff” is just filler for me.

I am new to Rick Bragg and will be working my way through all his books. Fun with hometown stories.

The Better South

Rick Bragg reminds us of the charm and good fortune of having roots in a place that will always be home. And, also, the support and fun of being present with family and others. I hope Mr. Bragg continues to read his books. Through his voice, we get to be present in his South.

I’ve always loved Rick Bragg. I enjoyed the easy, short stories. And I can relate to most of them. This book brought back memories of childhood with family members that have passed on. It was a pleasure to listen to.

Great writing as usual

What’s better than reading a book by Rick Bragg? Rick Bragg reading his book to you, that’s what! As usual I’m hooked with the first few words he reads. He’s one of my favorite Southern writers. His stories have been a balm to my soul during the pandemic. Hoping he’s already working on his next one.

His stories always make me smile with memories of things I've done and places I've been.

Ohhh so delicious!!

I’m not sure we didn’t come from the same people- I’m from LA, but the north part, not Cajun; his accent was delicious! I may listen over and over just to hear him talk!
I left LA and moved to more cosmopolitan S FL decades ago, but my memories of cane pole fishing, wonderful biscuits, blackberry cobbler good enough to eat until you just can’t hold any more, and riding in a car without air conditioning for hours and hours (from Shreveport to Baton Rouge before the interstate for me) and smelling all the wonderful environment as you go… are just bedrock wonderful.
I happened on him by chance… now to get the rest of his work. I can’t wait!
