Intriguing Captivating Story

Different type of story as to what I am used from John Saul but was still very intriguing and kept me wanting to read more and more. I always enjoy his writing style and this was no different. I highly recommend this book for all the John Saul fans.

I read this back in the day. Just finish the audio of it. Still a great book.

You don't read John Saul for a happy ending

These books are all so disturbing. He never writes a happy ending and you can count on that. But the stories are good, dark and very entertaining. I read most of them as a kid in the 80s but listening now has been great.

Slooooowwww

Story dragged, narrator didn't have good inflection and I don't consider animals being murdered to be entertaining. I usually like John Saul, but I didn't like this.

Not the typical John Saul book

I had to force myself to get through this book. I love all of John Sauls books but this one falls short of good.

I feel like the description should be different

Honestly, this book follows a mother and a daughter who are both crazy and psychotic, but you won’t know what’s going on throughout the book at all. If you’re looking for something creepy or even ghostly, this book doesn’t really deliver that. I found myself annoyed as hell at the daughter and I was confused the majority of the time lol it just wasn’t for me at all. I was hoping for a more ghostly and creepy centered story, I wanted to know more about the “water babies” and less about Dianna and her abusive mother. I wanted to know WHY Dianna was crazy and WHY her mother hated her. Just too many things left unanswered.
