Publisher's Summary

Thanks to Twinklestar, that marzipan-loving but lightning-shy reindeer, Santa and his caravan have come crashing down in a storm, just two weeks before Christmas. Luckily he's (literally!) dropped into a nice neighborhood.

But Santa's not safe.

The ruthless Gerold Geronimus Goblynch plans to put an end to children's wishes and turn the holiday season into his personal money-making scheme. Only Santa stands between him and his Grinch-like tricks. With the help of kids Charlotte and Ben, Santa will have to face Goblynch and his Nutcracker goons if he's ever to rescue Christmas!

Critic Reviews

"Author Cornelia Funke (INKHEART) reads this fantastical Christmas fable capably in her German-accented voice, sounding smoky and confiding (and a little like Lena Olin). Funke gives distinguishing voices to many of the characters, particularly Niklas's comical entourage-- plump angels Matilda and Emmanuel and a caravan full of wee grumbly elves. Get out the hot cocoa--this is charming seasonal listening for the whole family." ( AudioFile)

Magical!

I got this for my five year old to listen to in the car. Immediately, I was just as interested as he was. The story is magical. It brings all the good things of Christmas into the story. I enjoyed the European flavor too. It reminded me of Christmas in Germany. It will leave you with a smile on your face!

One of the best Christmas stories in a long time!

Would you consider the audio edition of When Santa Fell to Earth to be better than the print version?

they're both great, but I love hearing Cornelia read her own stuff. It has a wonderful, ethereal quality.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Wonderful!

I've listened to this book at least 10 times since purchasing it through Audible. I love the author, Cornelia Funke, and she expertly narrates this story herself. This isn't just a story for Christmas time, it's a favorite any time I'm feeling playful or just tired of the flow of negativity and gossip that passes for news these days. My only criticism of the story is the evident weight bias expressed in it; however, I'm still able to very much enjoy this story full of the wonder and magic of imagination.

Not my style

I was really disappointed in this book. I guess I was more expectant of a deeper story.
