Publisher's summary

An all new angsty, dark, stand-alone Contemporary Romance in the Moments in Boston Series ...

You never forget your first love … even when he becomes a memory.

There was before. When we were together, when we were happy. When we had nothing but dreams. When not a single bad thing could ever happen because we were young and in love.

And there was after. When the unthinkable occurs, how do you count time, knowing how precious it is? When dreams turn to nightmares, how do you wake up every day and choose to go on? When you have a chance to save another, how can you not?

Even if it changes everything. Even if it destroys you.

A harrowing, heartbreaking dark contemporary romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann, the third installment in the Moments in Boston series of stand-alones that explores the darkest nights and brightest dawns of the heart. A book that will leave you aching … and looking over your shoulder.

Talk about being put through it!

🚨Spoilers 🚨

Right off the bat I would like to say this is an amazing book! Truly amazing, but the description of the book doesn’t tell you anything really about the book. It tells you they’re gonna have a hard time and that it’s a romance and it has twist and turns basically and that’s basically true, However the book itself is SO SO SO much more than that.
The major make character went through the worst possible things that you could go through as a standby person. He lost all his closest people and still somehow didn’t give up, and didn’t quit fighting to find his lost love. In spite of all that still became a really good person. Not the person expected to be but still a really great. The female well I’m not sure how she is still alive. The depths of the things that she’s gone through not only with her early childhood but then her 20s-30s basically, I can’t imagine anyone ever returning from that kind of trauma in their life. How you could ever leave your house again? How you could ever feel normal again or OK again? I think just the fact that the love of her life was the one that was there and was able to help her through everything so much. Because she could trust him always in spite of everything who never let her down I think that’s what made the difference. The anguish you would feel is beyond understanding.

I did give it 4 stars only because I guessed what would happen way early in the book just didn’t know the details. I like to be surprised a close to the end as possible. So that made it a tiny bit less enjoyable for me to already know what would happen.

The narrator did an excellent job. There was a emotion in the right places, whispering when it should be quiet and louder when it needed to be. Had a male voice, a female voice, little frail grandma voice like it was supposed to. It was a good reading.

Although i do love this author, I am going to need a little break from the complete rollercoaster of emotions that she brings to the pages. I will be reading more of her work after something more cheerful to cleanse the sadness and stress off my brain from these last three Boston stories.

Off to the next great book 📖
