Publisher's summary

A new, grumpy-sunshine standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland

When life took an unexpected turn, I decided to get out of New York for a while. What better place to go than the idyllic small town my father spoke about so fondly when I was growing up? Laurel Lake held the title America’s Friendliest Town for seventeen years running, and friendly was just what I needed right now.

Unfortunately, friendly wasn’t the welcome I got when I arrived.

Instead, I got Fox Cassidy. My tall, dark, and burly neighbor, who grunted at me instead of saying hello.

Okay, so I might’ve had his mailbox in my hands the first time we met. And it might’ve been a little crushed after removing it from under my tire. And I might’ve needed his help breaking into the place I was staying in after the key broke off in the lock. But still…he didn’t have to be so grumpy.

As time went on though, I started to notice things about Fox other than his glares. Like how he watched me when he thought I wasn’t looking, or how fire ignited in his eyes whenever we bickered. Though I was in Laurel Lake to escape my problems, not create new ones. And getting involved with a man like Fox screamed trouble, even if he was gorgeous and unlike any man I’d ever met.

But alas, problem seemed to be my middle name this year. So why not have some fun while I was here for the summer? It seemed like a good plan. At least until it was time to go home…

They say what happens at the lake, stays at the lake. But it’s not so easy to walk away when what stays behind…is your heart.

AN ENTERTAINING LOW ANGST LISTEN

A very enjoyable Grumpy/Sunshine close proximity romance that has a slow-build to an instant attraction between Fox and Josie who, unfortunately, have come to the scenes with some life-altering damage. It’s set in small town Laurel Lake where neighbors love everyone.. but no-one’s private lives are safe from the gossip mill or the residents ‘thoughtful’ meddling. Fox’s walls are high and deeply dug for a reason buried in his past but VK has written the perfect ray of sunshine to lighten even his dark moods. The trouble is she’s got an end-date to her visit. It has lots of sweet, a bit of friction, a drop of humor, a little heat and a good serving of romance. Great voice acting by Andi and Sebastian who brought the charm, warmth and loveable characters to life.

Worth a credit? Yes.. and, for me, Vi Keeland is always a safe bet.

Enjoyed every last second

It is not often I read a novel that keeps me engrossed without having to skip over too many sex scenes and too much flowery language. The narrators are two of my favorite personalities to listen to in audible infusing believable characters into a well written novel. Thank you

Predictable romance

Nice, but predictable. I was bored 3/4 through, skipped 3 chapters, and didn’t miss a thing. Racy sex scenes and language seemed out of place with the female narrator. Kind of like having an elementary teacher read it. And the sex scenes weren’t amazing enough to get the listener through the boring plot line.

Grumpy Fox 😍

Josie decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and seek solace in her late father's quaint hometown of Laurel Lake. However, her plans for peace and quiet are disrupted when she encounters her surly and attractive neighbor, Fox Cassidy. Their initial interactions are filled with banter and tension, as they struggle to get along.

Despite touching on heavy topics such as alcoholism and mental health, the story maintains a lighthearted atmosphere. The dynamic between Josie and Fox is both entertaining and endearing, keeping listeners engaged and entertained throughout.

The narration by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York is perfect, adding another layer of enjoyment to the story. If you're a fan of the grumpy sunshine trope, this audiobook is a must-listen.

Fox and Josey's Story

Another Great one! Once again she has done it again! This story covered alcohol and mental health that are true issues on this earth and each issue was done with good taste.
Would be interested in a bonus epilogue too.

Looking for a grumpy on the outside sweet on the inside gentleman, look no further than Fox Cassidy. Through each character’s own flawed past they find love.

less spicy and more so sappy

Less spicy and more so sappy. Loved the story with its happy ending but it just wasn’t all that spicy compared to other books by this author. Felt a little too sappy

Grumpy, Sexy Fox!

This was a super cute, small town knows everyone’s business, grumpy, sexy local damaged guy meets sexy, sharp, damaged big city girl - a match made in heaven!

Sebastian York “was” grumpy Fox, & Andi Arndt delivered a just right, opinionated Josie.

I laughed & I hurt for both Fox & Josie. I loved Laurel Lake; I think I could live there.
