An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist

They invited me in. They shouldn’t have…

I knew the moment I met Daniel that I would marry him. As I meet his family for the first time, I say a silent prayer. It’s important that I make a good impression… and that they don’t discover why I’m really there.

Over a lavish family dinner, I take in their tight-lipped smiles. His mother watches my every move, his brother flirts dangerously with me and his sister maintains her thunderous expression as she carefully avoids any questions about the family. I can tell they’re all hiding something from me. And little do they know, I already know what it is.

You see, I’m not the only girl Daniel and his brother Elliott have brought back to meet their mother. Those other girls all disappeared. But I intend to make it out alive.

I’m going to uncover the secrets this perfect family home holds. And they’re going to regret ever welcoming me to the family.

Fans of The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage and Gone Girl will absolutely love this addictive book packed with nail-biting tension and jaw-dropping twists.

Meh. Not really all that believable. A major wine mogul just goes missing and no one asks any questions? Then all the women that have gone missing are all without their own families?! A bit of a stretch for me.

This book was a real struggle to get through. The characters felt flat and one-dimensional, often coming across as more annoying than engaging. The pacing dragged, and by the second half, the story started to feel repetitive, almost as if I was reading the first half all over again. The protagonist, in particular, was frustrating—constantly making poor decisions and spending more time whining than growing.

I pushed myself to continue past the first third, but it never improved. The lack of depth in both character development and plot made it hard to stay invested, and some of the timeline choices and decisions within the story were not only unrealistic but downright nonsensical. Overall, this book lacked the depth, creativity, and momentum needed to keep me engaged.

The story has a good premise however

Boring. This book really dragged. The twists at the end were okay, and the very end seemed unrealistic.

Meh

Agree with the other reviews this was a challenge to listen to. I have listened to many slow developing plots but I gave up on this after one hour due to flat characters and predictable scenarios.

Hard to endure

you know when you watch a movie and you find yourself screaming at the screen, don't do it, walk away. come on seriously?... etc That was this entire book. I bought it while on our road trip so I stuck through it listening to the whole thing, and it just never changed. Biizarre and nonsensical plot twists and holes in the plot. One of the narrators actually made me pause the story to go in and make sure it was people listed instead of AI as the narrator because she sounded so much like a computer.
