Suspenseful!

Well what a tangled web this is! Was totally blindsided by the villain!!! The blurb pretty much tells all it can and I won't add anything for fear of spoiling it, so let's go straight to my thoughts.

I loved Cold Hollow and couldn't wait to listen to this one, though I couldn't see how the author could top the first, but top it she did! This one was a fast paced, intense and quite creepy read. Cold Hollow sees 3 new parolees and a new family enter their "quaint" little town. On the surface, everyone seems to be settling in but things take a turn when mutilated bodies start turning up. With suspicion thrown on multiple suspects, it's a definite case of "who done it"!!

Once again, the author grabs you from the start and doesn't let go till the very last page! You think you know who is killing them, but you have no idea!! The plot is done in such a way to throw you off the scent. I think this is what I loved most about this book. I loved the fact that I never knew who it was and the way that you are on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

In all, this is a total roller-coaster of a ride and I seriously hope we see more from this world!

The narrator did a great job performing this. He had plenty of tones for the different characters and really knew how to bring the story to life. I will definitely be checking out more by him.

*I received a copy of this for review. This in no way affected my thoughts.*

Surprising twists that keep you guessing

This second in the Cold Hollow Mystery series continues the story of an experimental town where most of the residents are paroles. It can be read as a stand alone story but you will get more from this multilayered tale if you read Cold Hollow first. In this story, the arrival of new parolees coincides with the disappearance of local women, who are then found dead and wrapped in silk like a spider's cocooned prey. The story moves along at a good pace and the narration in the audiobook fits the characters well, giving each individual an easily recognizable voice and distinct personality. The plot is excellent and has some great unexpected twists thrown in. I love the characters in this series, they are well developed, interesting, quirky and full of surprises, even the "good" people can be unpredictable and creepy. This is a captivating "who done it" that will keep you guessing right up to the very end. I received the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Weaving the web

If you could sum up Weaving the Web in three words, what would they be?

What a tangled web this is! Was totally blindsided by the villain!!! The blurb pretty much tells all it can and I won't add anything for fear of spoiling it. This series is getting very interesting. I can't wait to start Book 3.

Silk cocoon

This town is full of psycho people I would be afraid to sleep or turn my back on anyone including the good doctor and the mayor. Little Liam hopefully grows up to be normal. I highly recommend this book. Hope there is a third coming soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series

I am not surprised as I listened to the first book in one session and I turned around and did the same with this one. I look forward to more Cold Hollow books as they are well worth the time and credit!

Major twists and cliffhanger!

The 2nd installment of the cold hollow series will bring back your favorite characters and introduce a few more new ones to love and hate. When you think you have it figured out, you are wrong. When you make your next I know who it is, you're wrong. The last few minutes will have a reveal that will shock you and leave you dying to dive into the 3rd book to find out just what happens next! The author and narrator are an amazing team that deliver a consistently stunning story. Love this series! Weaving the Best Yarn!!

This is another fantastic installment by Emilie J. Howard. She’s honed her craft to a level that still reminds me of Stephen King (this is meant as a huge compliment) while strongly maintaining her own style and individual creativeness. In this second book in this Cold Hollow Mystery, the story picks up, rather independently, right in our favorite town of Cold Hollow where new probationers are introduced as well as new comers who have never had anything to do with the penal system. Howard is a master at presenting a beguiling cover that her story is pacified (which is not) and predictable (which it absolutely is not). There were shocks so strong, they felt electric, and no matter how sure I thought outcomes would be, I was wrong each and every time. No character is indispensable, no situation straightforward. Howard’s writing is not only clever, it is tight and exceptionally fitting for this genre. What a great addition to the fold of this genre. Finally—another awesome writer!!

The narrator is also good at his craft. The most unfortunate gripe is that his voice sounds aged and so much older than the cast of teens, twenty-somethings, and thirty-somethings characters portrayed in the story. It is very distracting to have a mayor who is childbearing age sound like a sixty-year-old.

Even better

I liked this book even more than the first one. I love the progression of the town and the characters. Myrna, the mayor, is funny and feisty as ever and I love the way she runs the town. The new additions to the town definitely added spice to the storyline and although the story can be somewhat outlandish, I shamelessly like it. I was gifted this book by the author for an unbiased review and it pleases me to be able to give a good one. I would love to see a third edition of these books to see what new, funny and ridiculous things are happening in the future and to see how things are going for all the characters that I can't help but like!

More twists than an Olive Tree

Superb listen. One that I will read more than once. The narration was spot on. Bringing the characters and the town to life. I could feel my anger rising at the injustice and found myself willing some of the victims to find a way to freedom.

The ending I just didn't see coming. I guarantee you'll enjoy this book.

Weaving the Web

Any additional comments?

I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review.

It was a good book, set five months after the end of Cold Hollow. It had a good plot, but I found the pacing difficult. It felt rather slow going until about half way when it kicked into high gear.

The narrator was great but ...........

Any additional comments?

The narration was great, but I couldn't get into the story. Sometimes if I go back to a book at a later date in a different mood I enjoy it so I will try the book again in a few weeks time.
