"Told in the narrator Robin Miles's studied, authoritative (though sometimes slow) delivery, the audiobook manages to allow, rather than force, the subject's devastating emotional undertone. Miles, who has narrated works by Roxane Gay, bell hooks and N. K. Jemisin, excels at a technically perfect Standard American dialect but interjects just enough slightly sarcastic pauses and subtly acerbic inflections to emphasize the true meaning of the text." Required Reading/Listening

This book is a great point of reference when mapping about the issue of systemic racism and where it comes from. It clearly outlines how we got to where we are regarding the state of race relations in the United States.

I was never taught most of the historically damning information given in this book. The sources are good. While the message is definitely biased, and for a good reason, I find it very informative and not excessively emotional.

Great primer

An in-depth overview that details a good history. It wasn't new information for me, but for those who have read less, I think it would be. A great detailed look at voting in our country. It did make some points I hadn't heard before. Well written.
