Resumen del Editor

"Black people are not dark-skinned white people", says advertising visionary Tom Burrell. In fact, they are much more. They are survivors of the Middle Passage and centuries of humiliation and deprivation, who have excelled against the odds, constantly making a way out of "No way!" At this pivotal point in history, the idea of Black inferiority should have had a "Going-Out-of-Business Sale." After all, Barack Obama reached America's Promised Land.

Yet, as Brainwashed: Challenging the Myth of Black Inferiority testifies, too many in Black America are still wandering in the wilderness. In this powerful examination of "the greatest propaganda campaign of all time" - the masterful marketing of Black inferiority, aka the BI Complex - Burrell poses 10 disturbing questions that will make Black people look in the mirror and ask why, nearly 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, so many Blacks still think and act like slaves. Burrell's acute awareness of the power of words and images to shift, shape, and change the collective consciousness has led him to connect the contemporary and historical dots that have brought us to this crossroads.

Brainwashed is not a reprimand - it is a call to action. It demands that we question our self-defeating attitudes and behaviors. Racism is not the issue; how we respond to media distortions and programmed self-hatred is the issue. It's time to reverse the BI campaign with a globally based initiative that harnesses the power of new media and the wisdom of intergenerational coalitions. Provocative and powerful, Brainwashed dares to expose the wounds so that we, at last, can heal.

Free your Mind

This book can be a very important part of healing. When you know the truth, the truth can set you free, if you let it. This book is one of the keys. Use it if you dare.

we r not so different....

I struggled at 1st...NO FAULT 2 THE AUTHOR....some stuff was hard to here but definitely lead to real internal emancipation. The external historical oppression of people of color goes deep beneath the color. The tactics used by any oppressors reveals that we equally have the same vulnerability as well as the ability to thrive and achieve our God given potential. I am different as a result of reading this love letter......

Facing the truth about how we as a people have been brainwashed is the first step. I recommend this book be required reading in African American Studies.

Thought Provoking and powerful.

I've listened to this title several times now and even went to buy the hard copy. It's a much-needed look into social elements that hinder the advancement of the culture.

Timely!

I applaud the author for conceptualizing & writing this book. To acknowledge the "brainwashing" put in place by the dominant society and it's acceptance by some in our community needed to be said. But not only does the author bring the topic to light he also offers SOLUTIONS. And for that I am most grateful. Also the book was masterfully read and made for an enjoyable listen. I will recommend BRAINWASHED to any who will listen!

Wow

A great understanding of how Black America got here as to the false narratives we have about ourselves.
No perfect title than “Brained Washed”.

We talk stifles me talk....

Good book and insightful but with the Internet being AI monitored and certain agendas standing in the way, this is merely pipedream talk. Highly insightful and informative but at the same time it is basically wise words in a loud room..... Many don't read, and even when you offer them the option to just listen to a book, they decline..... Book was good but at the end of the day, the individual is the only one who can save the individual.....
